Fast Attack Hopper

I've been playing around with this idea for a while now, but I think it's finally ready to see the light of day (or computer screen, anyway). I'm slowly coming to terms with the fact that the one car I really want them to re-release, the Fast Attack Vehicle, is never going to happen. So since I have neither the patience to scrounge parts nor the money to find a good complete car, I decided to build my own replica, on something that I already have and can actually drive without fear of breaking it.

So, here it is so far: the Fast Attack Hopper.

The rollcage is cut from flat styrene sheet, joined by crossbars made from aluminum tube. I tapped the ends of the tube for 3mm screws, poked holes in the tub sides for mounting screws, and voila: rollcage. The hood (sorry, "bonnet") is built up from a bunch of pieces of sheet styrene of varying thicknesses, and two of the lights are recycled from the Grasshopper body and two are stolen from my Hotshot (I never mounted them).

Lots of shaping/smoothing work to be done yet, and of course, it needs a coat of flat tan paint. The tub and wheels will get painted too. And I'll have to make a gun at some point. But it's starting to look like something, at least...
