Ok, that means I have to fill the space with washers or collar. The lock nuts reached the shank on both wheels leaving that space...dred! :)

How about, increasing the thread depth on the upright using a tap & die tool? :)

You could always try contersinking the nut. :P

Great build with lots of pics... Have you run it yet? ;)

Can't wait to get mine....

Thanks! No I have not run it yet.

Currently I am getting the free play at the axle out of the way....and wondering if I should apply silicone sealant to waterproof the gearcase and radio box.

Sweet!!!

I gotta ask!

Are the sprints in the front swayarms soft as original or are they harden steel?

This is a difficult question for me. Because I do not have the 79' versions to compare it with. But from the feel of it, it seems ok....for me at least. :)

The old springs are slightly stiffer than the new ones in my opinion. I can only guess that this is either to let the dampers do more of the work or to help the BC take the bumps a little better... or perhaps both?

Both front and rear springs are softer on the Buggy Champ. And the new shocks are a revelation compared to the old design. In fact, whilst it'll never handle as well as a modern 2WD buggy with better suspension geometry etc, I think the BC will be a reasonable handler. It feels way better to me than the original ever did - shocks work better and the softer overall suspension makes it feel like a more modern buggy.

Ah, so that's what they're called :)

They feel like hardened steel to me. Hard to tell without having an old and new side by side, but yes I would say they have beefed these up a little in terms of material used.

I am getting some movements on both sides of the pipe joints. its moves at least 3mm up or down. I know I can goop it to stop the movement....but yet another "too much tolerance" in this kit! :)

Something that I installed much later.....2 wires is a squeeze, can you imagine 3 wires IF you use brushless motor? Probably got to ommit this part and just goop it down. :)

these were designed when the hard 16 guage wire was the norm, not the fat 14 guage silicone wire.

You probably have the wrong pipe joints fitted. one of the pipe joint should have a nub that fits the hole on the roll bar. Now if you didn't get at least two with the nub then you have a kit with the clamshell packaging error.

Looks like you are enjoying the build. Keep up with the pictures!!!

Thank you. While waiting for my transmitter, I am conducting CSI on the BC. New evidence creep up everyday. :P

Testing out with dubro silicone tubing. Seems to be tight now, suprisingly. No more rattling. The tricky part was to hold both joints together while bolting the 20mm screw You will love it, its challenging! :P
