Alright!!! I started stripping a wing today and here is the result. I got a little fogginess but I think it may be because I let it dry by mistake. I forget that you said to keep it wet. Anyway it works excellent!!!!!

I don't think the liquid alone did this. If it was so, you would have fogginess all over. The paint itself contains stuff to let it bind to the Lexan. This "stuff", that I don't know the name of, etches into the Lexan to prevent the paint from flaking off. The fogginess is sometimes possible to spot before you remove the paint. To cause fogginess I think you have to leave some liquid on bare Lexan for quite a while. In some cases the paint may react with the liquid, but I think that happens very rarely. This is just a theory and have never happened to me.

The only thing that happens if you let it dry out is that the prosess slows down and may stop completely.

Please note that I'm not an expert on this. I just share my own experiences with this "magic" liquid and hope it can be useful for fellow TC'ers. You should always judge for yourself if you want to use this method. Like everything else in life: unwanted things can happen!

Hope it makes sense and that my English doesn't stink too much :-)

Is the fashine similar to Citristrip, I wonder? Anyone tried this?

- James

I did a quick search on Google and the Citristrip seems to be waaaay stronger than Fashine. I would never used it at Lexan.

I got some of the fog out using plastic polish but I need to use my buffer wheel for the rest.

Plastic polish can be useful, but be easy on the buffer wheel. Remember that it builds up heat and can melt the Lexan. I almost ruined a Porsche 959 body on that....oops!

I've used dot4 brake fluid with 95% positive results.

As a word of warning - abs or poly...........

Never use this product on either - within seconds both will begin to melt/breakdown. Hence the corrosive warning :P

Are you using FASHINE now?

Nice to know it worked for you as well. :)

Yes!! Thank you for posting your finidings on this. I know it will save me a ton of money from now on and I may no longer have to find new bodies for my restorations.

HOLY COW. The Oscar for the best TC tip of the year 2009 goes to ;- Splended !

I bought 3 bottles of this and tried some last night. Paint that I had tried everything on (Tamiya Acrylic Thinner, Tamiya Enamel Thinner, Easy Off Oven Cleaner yellow label (bottle), Caustic Soda @ 33 per cent, Methylated Spirits, White Spirit, Tamiya Lacquer Thinner (ISTR), ESafe Model Paint Stripper , and others) nearly fell straight off the body within 10 minutes of application  . I couldn't believe my eyes ;) The paint was coming off so fast I couldn't keep up with it!! :o This was on an original white Styrene Sand Scorcher shell. The Fashine stuff is harmless to Styrene.

That completes things for me too, as now we have an item that is highly alkaline (Caustic Soda) , and now one that is seemingly highly acidic ( Fashine ). I doubt that any paint can withstand both!

Thoroughly recommended. Got it from Waldorf (IIRC) on the bay.

Cheers,

Alistair G.

Impressive. If it's as good as it sounds, maybe Parma should change their marketing, and sell it as magic RC paint stripper!

I've ordered a few bottles too - can't wait to try it out, I have a couple of shells that have stubborn paint that needs removing. I will report back...

Yes, I would never use it as a polish on the outside of a lexan body. There will always be spills on the inside paint from the edges.

BTW... I also recived another batch of FASHINE yesterday :D

Imagine that.... that we Norwegians know a thing or two.. ;):o:lol::lol:
