Pumpkin is 1/10th scale with radio gear to your choice and is a 'proper' kit . I believe the QD Pumpkin is a 1/12th scale per assembled truck with no actual installable radio gear option It has a circuit board as its radio system I've never owned a QD one though

Nearly, kitset pumpkin is 1/12th and the Quick Drive (they're not quick, it's just an older term for RTR) I think is 1/14th.

The Quick drive can be likened to your Nikko's etc, pre-built, runs off AA'/UM3's in the car and probably a 9 volt in the transmitter and not intended for disassembly.

They have nothing in common with the kitset, everything is different bar it's namesake.

The other major difference is the motor size. The kit form has a 540 and GH/Hornet Gearbox and the QD has a 380. The QD chassis is powered by a 9.6v pack made up of AA/UM-3 cells. There is no real suspesion as such on the QD.

The Quick Drives can be made better by fitting real radio gear and a steering servo. It takes a bit of dremeling to make it all fit, but it does improve them over the toy they are. The QD Monster Beetle is in the same category.

the QD monster trucks run 280 type electric motors iirc, and the only one than runs the 9.6v battery without any mods is the Wrangler, all the others running off of 8 aa batteries. I have 2 QD trucks and a QD buggy, and whilst not that fast, they are perfect for youngsters or those that need to practice their control!!! They are also pretty tough, I've landed some quite high jumps in my modded QD ClodBuster (uprated 280 @black' motor, proper radio gear, acoms steering servo, 7.2v battery, uprated QD oil-filled shocks, LED's ect...) The motor has made quite a difference, can pull quite big wheelies from the off, so much so that I need a wheelie bar!!!

Where did you locate the battery on the clod?, I have converted my QD monster beetle to proper radio gear and the 7.2v pack, and fitted bearings, it will pull wheelies with the standard motor, but I was thinking of going brushless :)

the battery sits on top of the electrics box, held on with a cable tie! I also dremmeled out the bottom battery box and fitted a 9.6v battery pack for the LED's. I'll get some decent pics done!
