I will be out again this week as it is the last week that I won't be working on Saturdays.

Next week (21st Nov) I can't make it out until after 1pm due to work.

Sorry Guys

Something has come up and I have to pull out this Saturday.

Definately good for next Saturday 21st November.

I have my gear ready to go. Bringing my eldest lad and his DF03 as well. I was going to bring my DF03 MS, but it's main gear/idler bevel gear has done a number again. Slowly growing to hate this chassis. The son's mainshaft should last out another few runs.

Everything looks good for me making it tomorrow. Need to leave here at 5:30am to get there by 9:30am.

Joey is on AM 29.865mhz and I'm on FM27 ch12. Do I need to bring extra crystal sets for Joey? Is there AC power available?

Posted

Hi Mark

Yes, definately bring a few sets of crystals in case there is a clash as we have to play together with the boaties. They run a frequency board and happily give us 3 or 4 channels every Saturday.

No AC power sorry - unless you go over to the boats and they might have power as they run a small container shed.

I won't be able to get out until 1pm probably as I finish work at 12:30.

I will go round and see if anyone is still there but there is no need for anyone to wait around.

It was a great day. I was a bit worn out by the time we arrived home at 4:45pm. Big day with ~6hrs on the road.

My poor Blazing Star copped a beating and will be needing quite a few new parts. Minced the GPM front gearbox bottom, the Top Force undertray and there's nothing left of the rear gearbox casing. The gearset (idler gear) is also very worn. Joey's DF03 has many underbody scrapes.

Next time I bring my shovel and rake to fill in some of the potholes left by the nitros and BMX riders that shouldn't be on the track. I'm trying to get my wife to come next time too. She is great with the camera and we'll get many more cool action shots.

The photos I took are up in my showroom here, here and here. The images can also be found on my website here (Use the back button to get back to the list from each image).

It was good to meet you Mark and to have a bit of a yarn to you and your young bloke as you were packing up.

The next few weeks I am working on Saturday mornings so I can't get out until 1ish but from mid December I will have Saturdays off for a few weeks and I should be able to get out early.

Likewise. It's great to be able to put faces to many names.

I'll be aiming for the 19th Dec for my next trip down, a month away. Hopefully I'll be able to have a few more vehicles to run next time and a dedicated photographer. All 4 of my boys have their own buggys and they are all keen for a drive away from home.

I feel we should setup on the other side of the track next time too. It's much easier to drive the track when standing on the wooden blocks on the main straight. The tree on the infield is less of a distraction from this vantage point too. A little further to carry our gear from the already long way away carpark, but still in the shade.

Sorry that i missed all you guys last time.

Im normally there with Mario. ( Has my old Top Force EVO)

TA Mark i thought you lived around Mt Isa.

Hope to see you all there next time you make the drive.

Yes Boondal is rough but i hope they will at least give us some dirt to patch it up. Im trying to organize it.

Boondal track has been there since the mid 80's and was a copy of the Tamiya test track in japan at the time. It never took off due to no carparking near the track . We didnt have great batteries back than. So no one really liked it. The Mossies are bad there so dont forget the Aeroguard.

Hope to see you all soon and will brin g my Tamiya's too.

I think he's sold it now. You'll havta ask him.

Nope. You have me mixed up with another member who is from Mt Isa. Haven't seen him post for a while now.

I was going to recycle the loose dirt that is already there as I do for my own track. Use the loose dirt and high spots to fill in the low spots. I've had my track get rutted out before from several Mamba powered buggys and 1:8 nitro buggys tearing it up, but I've never let it get as bad as the track at Boondall was last week end.

The track layout is nice. The only things I don't like is the tree on the infield which I wouldn't dare ask to be removed (more trees added around the Brisbane area if anything), and the distance away the carpark is. They really do need to add a small carpark just to the south of the track, even if it was just rearrange the posts and a large patch of deco (same surface as the track). It would give us somewhere to alteast unload the vehicles and gear then move the car over to the designated carpark on the other side of the ring road.

Didn't get attacked by mossies last week end, just a few horse flies was about it. With the lake there it is a good breeding ground for them though.

Hi Guys. I live on the Sunny Coast & have some old Tamiya's that need an outing. I've been thinking it would be good if there was somewhere to drive, someone getting together with some older Tamiya's. I would be interested coming down & having a bash with you guys.

Hi Redzone. Thanks for the info. I think I actually ran into you & one of your mates one day about a year ago out at the on road track at Landsborrough. I am thinking seriously of coming to Boondal for a look on Saturday.

I have just finished fixing the re-release Hotshot in preparation.

So I should have a few cars ready including the trusty Blazing Star.

I can't wait to actually get a full day out again.

I'm not going to be able to make it, sorry guys. Kids have shared their flu with me and I don't think it's a good idea for me to be drowsy behind the wheel for 6hrs. Lovely these things they bring home from school on the last week.

I sneeze and carry on if I attempt to go into the RC workshop with the strong smell of paint in there so can't even work on my cars. :)

Planning on coming down for a run on Saturday. Just wondering what time your kicking off? Thanks.

We start arriving round 930am.

If you run crystrals make sure you pop in to the RC boat club and register your frequency. They get a little antsy when we clash.

Looking forward to a big morning! Hope the rain stays away :)

Shame you can't make it Mark - sure we will see you after Christmas
