this is one of those ideas that seems like a good one late at night, but it stood up to daylight scrutiny. butt two Mini Cooper front ends together and make a 4wd. in practice, it worked out much better than i had hoped.

i cut both chassis at the midpoint of the battery cavity, using the battery brace as an alignment jig while i drilled the holes for the aluminum plate that holds the two ends together. the result is stiffer than stock (which admittedly isn't saying much). while i was at it i locked the front diff using CC-01 locker plates. this keeps the front diff from unloading in corners. the speedo is a Novak EVX modified for 6-cell duty. Motors are Trinity 19t singles, one reverse timed.

performance is incredible. it's probably pushing 40 mph with 20t pinions. handling is much improved, nearly as good as my Losi XXX-S sedan.

this Sunday will see its competition debut (in our Modified class, anything goes).

the body will be a shortened Pro-Line BMW new Mini. the glue is drying right now and the fumes are giving me more ideas.

Cool you couldnt have posted this at a better time, was thinking bout this for my mini as have a skyline shell figured it should be 4wd. Have just picked up remains of a M03 but after looking at it I wasnt sure and was going to just turn it into another mini but your idea seems to have reinstated my thoughts, is the wheelbase of that the same as a stock mini?

two reasons: 1 i already have two Mini Coopers and no TL01's. 2 two motors will go faster! in our Modified Cooper class, anything is legal, the only limitation being 6 cells max.

the handling is phenomenal. near-perfect weight distribution, 4 wheel drive and insane power, what's not to like? besides the body:
