In what can only be described as awesome news, Eustace Moore of MIP Products has confirmed that MIP will be re-releasing some of their most requested Hop Ups. I rang Eustace last week to try and pin him down and confirm some facts about some of the earlier conversions for an article I am writing on them for R/C CAR magazine in the US, and also to confirm what was posted on another popular vintage website: that they were considering re-releasing some products from their early days. I had not spoken personally with Eustace since the 89 Worlds here in Australia, where I was just a young lad. It was great to catch up with him again and even more brilliant to be asked to give some suggestions about what would be popular and what people were most wanting.

MIP is the oldest surviving manufacturer of spare parts and options that our hobby has. Eustace is very passionate about the hobby and his roots are with it. For anyone with a love for vintage race cars, MIP is famous for their ball differentials, suspension components like the trailing arm conversion for the SRB and of course the RC10. Eustace is most keen to get the views of what people would like to see. He has set up a blog that you can vote on for the re-release of their earlier products. Please go over and vote, email and let MIP know what you would like to see. The link can be found here:

MIP BLOG

So, if you want a MIP ball differential for your new Rough Rider re-release, a trailing arm set, a complete transmission or any other of the great hop ups for any car that they have produced over the years, PLEASE post here and or on the MIP blog. The more people that vote, email and let MIP know what we want - the more likely that it will be re-produced.

Eustace told me that he is more interested in getting the old cars and the love for the hobby going again with our vintage cars than he is in money - he will be making these parts VERY AFFORDABLE. So no more huge prices for simple parts. MIP are passionate about their past and their history and are only too happy to share the love!

I am NOT getting any "kick back" for any of this at all - just a kick out of seeing some terrific old cars get a lease on life again with one fo the worlds most prolific aftermarket manufacturers supporting us!

I wonder what the most requested items will be - I reckon it will be the SRB diff and the 4wd conversion for the RC10 that will be among the most wanted!

I will be sending MIP (Eustace Moore) the link to this thread here on TC so that we can keep a track of what peoples greatest desires are.

Cheers for now

I would very much like a 4WD conversion kit for the RC10. Some of the ball diffs would be great too. I always wanted one for my Frog. I don't remember if they made one though. I'm getting old. LOL!

i have very fond memories of moore's parts. this is exciting news. now if crp and jg would get back into the game we'd be all set!

did they do shocks?

ill say shocks and wheels B)

Yes, they did shock bodies. They were pretty neat. I only remember them for the RC10, but it's possible they did some for other cars.

Definitiely ball or gear differentials for the SRB would sell like hotcakes. I'd buy two or three sets of SRB ball differentials.

Didn't MIP do that cable drive 4WD conversion for the SRB?

An 'enhancement' kit for the stock SRB dampers that allows them to work properly would be nice. Including a little decal sheet with Bilstein and Monroe decals for the shock bodies would be a nice touch.

Great news!

Ball diff and trailing arm set are my favourite but probably they have in catalog a lot more items i don't remember anyone has and old MIP catalog to share the content?

Bye.

WWD

Are we talking rear trailing arms?

Any pics?

Oh, I would go for the 4WD kit.

DOn't need a diff because my Thorp ball diff is doing a terrific job in my SS.

I'd at least go for a Trail Arm set - I think those are one of the nicest for the Sand Scorcher along with the diff, which I would also likely buy! And let's not forget nylon suspension arms and shock towers if they release those, and many more items! B)

You can get these on the Tamiya Club Blazing Blazer decal sheet. Only of any use of you can use the other decals as its a bit expensive otherwise B)

Definitely interested in the vintage parts.

Especially the SRB diff.

But I can't remember all the parts MIP used to make for the old cars.

Guys,

I will see what I can do with regard to some scans of what they used to make.

Most obvious are of course the plastic front end components for the SRB's, the 4wd conversions for the RC10 and the cable conversion for the SRB (also shared withthe RC10), Ball diffs and a host of other awesome parts.

Cheers

Superb. I'm halfway through the build of my Buggy Champ and it's quickly dawning on me how antiquated and fragile the parts are on it, even with this re-release. Not that I'm complaining....I'm loving the build and in a way that makes you realise even more how special it is that Tamiya have re-released it.

It's fantastic how the vintage R/C niche continues to grow 5 years on after it all got going. I wonder if Kyosho & Associated would be tempted to jump on the bandwagon and re-release the Optima Mid & RC10 respectively?

A lot of the RC10's parts are still available for new, except the tub  . I wish they would make new tubs, then I could use the MIP 4WD kit and the parts I have to build a RC-10...

It has been said that all of the kyosho molds were destroyed long ago :)
