i'm building a scorcher runner, i have sold the badly repaired scorcher body and replaced it with a monster beetle one, been a runner i'm not bothered about originality. but i have a few questions

the radio box has been glued in 3 or 4 places, should i cut it for the battery, or stop been lazy and make a hump pack?

it has a black bumper that is scratced, should i run it with that, or sell the original and buy a repro bumper to run?

also the rear shocks arn't fitted yet, but it takes about 5 pounds of preasure to get the back end to compress, is this normal?

i will put some pics up later, sorry for all the questions, but in 25 years of r.c. this is my first srb

You can buy new hump packs which fit the SRB for a reasonable amount off eBay.

It depends how badly scratched it is really - if it could be cleaned up it might be worth a bit. The repro's can be bought off eBay for about £15 - might be better for running with...

You can adjust the rear suspension by twisting the torsion bars - just make sure you twist them a similar amount. Once you've got all the radio gear/battery,etc. in the SRB it weighs enough to make the rear suspension work (a bit) :P

If you are not too worried about the vintage originality of the SS...imo make a humpback and do not compromise the battery box to allow foreign material(s) getting in.

- Sell the bumper - possibly make some money

-I would not call exerting 5 pounds of pressure to the get the back end to compress as normal. Have you disassembled the shocks to have a look? Torsion Bar?

If your using an ESC there's enought room for a standard battery inside without any modification. (thats what im doing, bit of a squeaze) or get a hump back of ebay i saw a 4700 for £20.00 buy it now

I'm curious as well as how to fit a standard 7 cell pack in there? I bought a lipo as there was no way way for me finagle a standard pack into the radio box. Would love to see some pics :)

this is how my scorcher looks at the minute, i'm going to start preping it for new paint soon. the body sits slightly to far forward, but as it's a runner i will leave it as it is

I've no idea about 7 cell as I've never used them but to get a standard 6 cell in means getting rid of steering assembly on body post and going direct steer from servo so you can move servo forwards and 90 degrees anti clockwise, then getting a lexan repro radio box so you can cut the front off to fit the now moved servo, then strap pack lengthways along chassis. Did that make any sense?

It also reduces body roll on cornering with all weight along centre.

I think a 7 cell may mean cutting the body as well as radio box when mounted across chassis.
