im ready to order a three ezrun systems for my cars, not sure which to go for, not sure which would siute the best.

firstly my slash not wanting to be crazy but just abit faster, thought about the 8.5 turn with the 60amp esc, geared at 15/86

secondly my losi high roller thought about again the 8.5t with a 60 amp esc geared at 15/90

lastly my fav runner my blackfoot extreme thought about the 9t with 35amp esc being lighter with 20t pinion.

whats your thoughts on these setup's

any help would be great as this is the first time ive had the cash for brushless.

The 8.5 for the Slash will be quite a bit faster than stock if you are currently running the Titan. Not uncontrolable, but a nice increase in speed and power running 6-7 cell Nimh, or 2s lipo. If your planning on 3s lipo then the 8.5t will be crazy fast and on the edge of controlability. Same goes for the High Roller.

The 9t in the Blackfoot may be a little weak. Ezrun motors are 380 size for the straight numbers, and 540 size for the *.5 numbers. The 8.5t combos are 540 size with loads of torque to get the big monster tires going. The 9t (380 size) will probably do ok, but a 540 size would do better in a monster truck.

One last thought is that if your Slash is the newer waterproof version then upgrading to the Ezrun will make it no longer waterproof. That's why I haven't moved to brushless in my Stampede.

thanks for that, i realize that it will be no longer waterproof compared to its xl5 esc but i dont run through much water, more of a summer runner lol, what you said sounds great power wise as im not that gooda driver anyways, on the blackfoot extreme note i will go for the 8.5t for all three to be sure.

many thanks for your reply.

No worries about the splashwatertight-ness :) Jconcepts has a chassis cover for the Slash which I think will make it practically splashwatertight :) It will even keep the dirt out of the chassis, too!

By the way, if you're looking for a nice basic brushless combo that will last without any doubt, the Tamiya Brushless 01 set is definetely something to look at ;) 3160kV sensorless motor (12T, 23T/Sports tuned brushed equivelant), ESC with cooling block+fan and a 100A continous drain limit and nicely small... I have one, and I have to say I'm pretty impressed by it. Probably not a combo that will give the Slash more grunt though :P

For the same price or less than that Tamiya BL set you could get the EZRUN set with a 5.5T, 60A ESC and program card. The EZRUN should give your Slash some grunt.

yeh ive heard good reports from the ezrun setup's, so def going for three of those, was'nt sure if the 5.5t would be too much for the big trucks, still undecided what kv motor to get, ive got the cash just need to be sure im ordering the right type for my trucks.

I've recently fitted a 8.5T EZrun combo to my TL-01B chassis. I haven't had any previous experience with BL motor before so I really don't have muce to compeare with but... I'm very satisfied with the combo. I tried a 7.4V 4000 mAh Li-Po with it yesterday, set the PUNCH to 4. Man was it flying! I mostly drove on my tight dirttrack but on the yard it also was very impressive. Still nice to handle.

I've run the above mentioned with:

PUNCH 1

Haiboxing 7.2V 1800 mAh Ni-Cd

Ok speed, better than with the standard brushed motor. Runtime app. 9-10 mins.

Haiboxing 7.2V 2000 mAh Ni-Mh

Slightly more speed than with the above. Runtime app. 11-12 mins.

PUNCH 4

Team Orion 7.4V 4000 mAh Li-Po

Jolly fun speed ;) Only run one pack, overheating protection hit at app.13-14 mins. runtime. Cooled down, and ran app. 11-12 mins. before lipo cutoff. :P:D

The EZRUN 5.5T 6000KV combo is designed for offroad vehicles. You could gear it down if required. Also you could program it for weaker punch if it's too fast for your driving skill. Better to get the 5.5T and dial down the power vs getting a 8.5T and wondering if you should upgrade again later on.

I've run a 10T double wind Trinity modified BRUSHED in my Tamiya WRC Corolla for years and it's not overly fast at all. Completely driveable since it's 4WD. For reference a 5.5T BL is equal to 10T Brushed.

I just transfered my Sidewinder 4600 kv from my DF03 into my Traxxas Stampede monster truck. I'm running it on 2s lipo, with 70% punch control setting, and it is PLENTY fast! Can't keep the front wheels on the ground. Even after easing it up to about 20mph, a quick punch of throttle has it back on the wheelie bar. :) On anything but dry tarmac the rear wheels just spin endlessly. I'm actually thinking about backing the motor timing down a bit or increasing punch control to max. Gearing is 90t spur and 15t pinion with the same diff your Slash has. No heat issues at all.

Just thought I'd share this to try to help your decision.

A pal of mine has a 5700 Kw Sidewinder system in a BFX, and it turned it into a total beast. Maybe a little too fast as things appear to be regularly falling off of it!!

If you go that fast in a BFX, I'd recommend doing some upgrades!!

thanks guys for all your input on this one, just ordered a 8.5t ezrun with 60 amp esc and 12v upgrade fan for my slash, will try 15/86 gearing and see how it goes to start with, the bfx being lighter ive ordered a 9t ezrun 35amp esc which should wotk fine i hope with the 20t pinion fitted, the losi high roller again has a 8.5t ezrun with 60 amp esc using 15/90, just have to wait for the post man to bring my goodies, as soon as ive recieved them and tried them out i will post the results for you.

again many thanks.
