Out of interest, has anyone else had anything from Tower to uK that went via Sweden?

I just received some bits today, but where the stamp normally goes, is a pre-printed label stating lost parcels should be returned to Sweden.

Tower's address label clearly states England, just wondered what the crack was

The package (according to Tower) was posted on July 14th, and arrived today, although it was cleared thru customs on 3rd August!

Nope, apart from if lost please return to somewhere in Malmo

It seems that Sweden might be a distribution hub for American mail coming in to Europe?

i was thinking just the same thing as i have just rec'vd a parcel from tower that took 4 weeks to get here (nowt unusual there !!) anyways on top of the parcel it says 'priority A ** ** ** Sweden"

and if undelivered return to 'mount pleasant customs'

i never understood why tower takes so long to arrive - anyone tried the recent uPS service? i didnt bother as not worth it given cost of the parts ordered......

Funny you should mention that Andy - I just got some TNX spares and some Team Associated stuff from them and it came via Sweden too [xx(].

I think that maybe for smaller orders Tower might use one of those bulk shipping companies. Basically they gate an aircrate / container of orders together bound for Europe and then ship them en masse to a Euro processing port / mail hub like Sweden and then use normal European airmail from there. I guess maybe it saves them a lot of cash on the uS -> Europe freight charges?

The other alternative explanation is Tower have set up a European depo / warehouse to fulfill some orders. I've seen Canadian and some other companies do this - you order from the uS site, but it gets shipped from a warehouse in Europe (usually the Netherlands or elsewhere in central Europe).

One of the parcel firms that's got an alternative post distribution hub in the uK (I think it's Business Post) has a parcel depot and mail sort hub in Sweden, I wonder if Tower have done a deal with them for their mail to go by courier to the hub and then be forwarded to the various euro post offices?

Something similar happens in the uK if any of your mail has the "UK Mail" logo stamped on it - it gets collected by courier, sorted by courier then delivered in bulk to the local sorting offices, the PO only then does the final delivery.

Where I now work we get not known at this address returned letters from all over europe and they seem to all get stamped in Sweden then sent back in bundles every week via a courier.
