But just think how vastly it would improve the site..... :P

Seriously though, all the drama on this place before a kit is released is what I love about this hobby, and after 6 years of speculation it doesn't get any bigger than that of the Big One. The more that people get their knickers in a twist the better if you ask me.

Mind you, Tamiya USA are still showing it as 4WD.... :D:o:lol:

just looked on tamiyausa.com they have changed the title to 2wd, phew!!! buggy champ chassis it is then.

I have matured and will love it anyway it looks!

It is one of the most wanted RC cars in history and after 6+ years I just have to accept it in any shape of the arches!

An I guess Live Steam Mad will to eventually... I hope... :D

Soon bros' and sisters!!! Soon!!!

I'm guessing collectors are aware of the re-release scorcher as a NIB original just sold on EBay for $1600 USD (Item number: 230397255390). From memory thats a fair bit down on what they normally go for. :D

Will the re-release be a one off run or will it be like the Buggy Champ where they do a few production runs?

Is there any reason the Scorcher shell would've needed to be modded to fit a Monster or Blitzer?

I'm just curious as to why they'd re-tool it if they didn't have to - If they still had SS moulds, why make BB/MB ones?

Could it be the SS moulds were no good when they went to re-use them? :D:P

I think now's the time to start counsellor college

Other than the ones that are still new-in-box, or freshly built from same, are there any truly "original" Scorchers anymore anyway? I got the impression that most of them were like Great Granddad's axe: The handle was replaced 5 times, and the head 7 times, but other than that it's the same old axe...

Count me among those who don't care which shell it has. They're hard to tell apart in midair anyway. :D

Rumor has it that the MB/BB are slightly wider than the SS, but not confirmed yet. I can check tonight...

You guys are priceless.

We are, aren't we?!! ;)

Does anyone know if there will be indicators with the RERE & door handles, mirrors etc??? If so will they be available to buy as spare parts because a lot of people would probably be interested in them if they were!

Posted
rcgrabbag.com already does repro handles, mirrors etc

Is there much diff between repro and rere I wonder

CHEERS FOR THAT INFO, MY LIFE IS NOW COMPLETE (UNTIL THE RERE THAT IS, LOL!)

I told myself I wouldn't post until the 33rd page, so here's my take:

-Of all the possible re-re's that have attained true cult status, the highest one on the list NOT to take any liberties with bodywise would have to be the Scorcher. I hope Big T thinks the same way.

-Since a lot of you chaps say you don't mind small differences, you won't be disappointed either way: Therefore, if it's 100% original, Tamiya won't leave anyone out in the cold, so that makes the most sense to re-pro it as original in every way.

-As long as the shell has a different inner mark from the original, that's all the collectors would need: No need to change the shape.

-I could care less what guys who want to retire on their original think: IMO, if you collect these for their investment value 1st & the love of it 2nd, you're not my kind of chap anyway. Go cry to Mamma, I ain't listening.

-People love these things for how they look, not because they're stellar in the handling & speed department. Ergo, why risk messing with the look/stance/lines of the original? If the MB's & BB's bodies are so close, why aren't they as highly collectable?

I will be very disappointed if they are not as original, plain & simple. I'm tired of politics or licensing or trying to hit a price point interfering with my being able to buy quality product. What makes Tamiya so great is that they usually do NOT cut corners, if I wanna save $ I'll buy a Tyco. Years ago, Wild Turkey had a great ad that sums it up for me: "There are less expensive Bourbons. There are also smaller cars and thinner steaks." There ya go. Chris

Actually, I'd be happier if they make some incremental improvements, like they did with the Buggy Champ (shocks for example).

So I think the best way to not leave anyone out in the cold is actually to not make it a direct replica of the original.

Everyone has a different view on this of course, that's part of what makes it fun

I think he was refering to the body.

As we all know the chassie will be identical to Buggy Champ!

I Can't wait!!!

Out of interest though fella, would you be happy knowing you got a 20+ year old car on the shelf with a new body on it?

I used to collect Scorchers like there was no tomorrow, but the obsession of having them 'authentic' got too much - expensive exhausts, silly priced indicators

Having a new shell on one would, for me, just not cut it ;)

It'd be like turning the Mona Lisa round and finding an Athena price label on the back B)

Yes I would be very happy indeed with having a 2009 made shell with 2009 written inside it. As long as it looks identical to the original, it is an original, is how I feel!

Authenticity only extends that far for me.

Cheers,

Alistair G.
