It's all fine and wonderful but what the heck do you do when a parcel goes missing? You can only claim 40 USD back (30 quid) from a 180 quid kit!! You'd lose 150 quid!

In this country (UK) we can take the risk to get savings (but then again when the postage is 40 quid and the kit is 180, the total is 220 quid and the price in the UK is about 275 - 299.95 or so, the savings are not huge) but if you get hit for 15 quid Royal Mail Clearance Fee (gone up from 13 quid) plus 20 per cent VAT (our VAT went up in January I think) then it's not so funny there either.

What happens if the box arrives and it's got corner crushes...?

I think I'll have to stick to UK sourcing for the foreseeable future. Then again the SS2010 kit is way too expensive for me ATM, maybe for my birthday in April. But I think I'd rather have a HotShot. It's that body that did it (the wing problem...).

VAT's gone back to 17.5%, it went down to 15% for last year

With the $ strong against the £ at the minute, I'm not sure there's that great a saving to be had by importing;

$275 kit

$55 shipping

=

£211.81

+ 3% duty = £218.16

+17.5% VAT = £256.34

+£15 RM Clearing = £271.34

That's if it gets stopped.

If it doesn't, £211.81 from Stella

£269 from Fusion, if you're a TC subscriber, 10% off so £242

If you're a TC member, 5% disc. so £255

LOL about the VAT, shows how aware I am of what's going on around me <_<

Wow cool to see that Fusion can do that price on them, wasn't aware it was available so "cheap" in Blighty.

Great info.

Hey Stuart, I think it would be extra nice with the T-Shirt. Worth the wait.. I guess that comes with ESC as well? I left it a bit late going through RC Champ with my pre-order. All pre-orders were taken and no more offered were his words. never mind.

I had mine on pre order with rc champ but decided not to at beginning of this month due to just not being able to justify cost at mo so getting bodyset, i was told it would include t-shirt and not esc s my BC didnt come with esc either something

to do with these kits being destined for a different market i think or they take them out to sell on lol!

I did pre order mine as soon as word of the SS re-re was for real though!!

Am gutted im not getting mine now though but sure once i get bodyset and wheels on my bc it will be same!

EMS <_<

Normally I found that EMS didn't get hit for fees when it arrived in UK, for parcel sent from HK to UK. Was a few years back though that I last ordered a NIB from Stella.

When you say TC subscriber is that to forum or actual club? might be sounding a bit silly here lol but how much is it to join the 'club' ?

Eek! Stella models is now sold out! That was quick... Glad I ordered mine when I did now.

I ordered from Stella because they had the stock on hand, and I've ordered from them before and they do a great job at packaging kits safely.

They say that the Sand Scorcher run will be limited, but you can still get Buggy Champ kits easily several months after release. Will be interesting to see how long stock of the Sand Scorcher is available for. I'm guessing that most Tamiya addicts who bought the Buggy Champ will buy the Scorcher too, and those people who held off on buying the Buggy Champ may now get the Scorcher instead... But I still think after the initial rush on the first batch, there will be enough kits to go around.

... And now Stella says they are back in stock again!

Cheers for that, just ordered mine with the fast delivery. Do I have to buy some of these daft new batteries for it? Planning on it being a beach and gravel runner.

Just ordered mine from StellaModels.

£200s worth of my savings very well spent I feel :):P

£178 from stella be intresting to see how much for those of you who in UK how much it totals in end whether get charged customs or not!

from reading the posts here it seems stella are willing to say it is worth a lot less than it is which is tempting but risky to!!

Yeah complete with shipping it was £230. Just see how much (if any) the customs is going to be. I've wanted one of these for a LONG time, and the speed at which they're being sold I wanted to get in before the rush. Not entirely sure about the customs regs here, I have to admit, but I've only ever been charged customs fees when getting stuff in from Tower Models in the US. None of the stuff from HK has ever been charged - see how it goes. I'll no doubt post the results here, in any case!
