Looks like you and I aren't getting much work done today...

I'd like to make this a rally car - not for racing really - just fun - maybe some informal races with friends - hopefully. Actaully I'd _love_ to do racing like I've seen in some videos from the Czech Repbublic (I think). Can't find the links right now...

I'm sure I'll have plenty more questions - but to start:

-Looking for some parts - Lance Delta Integrale body, alloy motor mount. Seems the only people selling them are in Honk Kong and such - any local (US) sellers that anybody knows about?

- Are the alloy hex wheel mounts necessary? I'm thinking no but I'm assuming I would want the ones that are listed for TA-01, correct?

- Heat sink for motor necessary? Will likely run a RS540SH or Trinity Monster....

- Do I need different shocks to run the TA-02 in rally (slightly increased ground clearance?)

Any other tips?

thx again

lol, it's slow @ work (i'm in the automotive industry).

hong kong is where it's at, no one in the us will have this stuff. have no fear about hong kong, just use vendors that we here at tamiya club have used and recomend.

we all buy alot from hong kong. (i just got a set of shocks in today from HK)

look here for great alloy upgrades for the ta02:

i always wait to see how a motor does before i put a heatsink on it.

check out this thread for a little more info on ta02 mods:

Hey, if you want something to widen up the body by 5mm each side, get yourself the TA01 steering knuckles. In fact the TA02W was just TA01 knuckles on a normal TA02. You also need TA01 bearings and TA01 axles

asiatees deftinally have a lot of hop ups. Make sure you get the 16t motor mount and not the one that uses bigger pinions. I have the ford F150 ta01/ta02 truck and that is pretty much a neat little rally car out of box. Im not sure if it will fit the lancia body or not.

Using TA01 arms on the rear of the TA02 gets it the right wheelbase for the shorter Corolla WRC body, so would expect this setup would also fit the other 'S' bodies from the TA03FS.

To get the extra length in the kit dampers there are 2 different length lower eyes on the part sheet. Use the longer ones for more ground clearance.

A TL01 heatsink will fit onto a TA01/02 without modification. You need to remove 2 fins from the heatsink if you also have the TA02 swaybar set fitted.

I use a TA02 as an offroad rally chassis and it's lasted well, some 15 years with maintainence and replacing anything that has broken (My first Tamiya). I've had it powered with many motors from silvercan to 11 turn double to 5700Kv Mamba. Parts are cheap and easy to find. There are a few weak spots that have been covered many times in previous threads and here again. Soft alloy pinion, plastic motor mount (16T-21T), bearings, coathanger prop shaft and the rear gearcover. All easy to sort out for a reliable sealed chassis.

Thanks TA-Mark.

So what mods would you consider "necessary" for a TA-02 rally "basher" car? (that's my biggest question I guess) I don't want to get too crazy if I don't _have_ to...

I don't even know what lower eyes my car has on it - my chassis looks to be in great shape but I did buy it used. What is standard ground clearance vs rally?

Will a Ford Escort or Lancia Delta or Audi quatro fit the standard TA-02 chassis? I guess I need to determine if mine really is 100% standard tho....

More questions will come - thanks in advance.
