Guys-

I'm confident somebody around here knows my problem - and I wasn't getting any feedback when I tacked this question onto another thread - so here is dedicated thread...

Th car started acting very odd a day or so ago First it started by going into reverse by itslef for a sec. Then it started going slower in forward (tried another fully charged battery - no change). rthen it stopped going forward and only went in reverse. Now if I press the trigger to go forward the wheels go backward. The ESC seems to be set correctly in that in neutral the LED is off. give it throttle LED comes on - get to full throttle LED goes out. Same in reverse - but motor does not run at all.

I have tried to re-set the ESC (teu101bk) - no help. Let me back up - I'm not sure how to reset the ESC - but here is what I did - turned on the receiver and then held the ESC button down for a few seconds then went thru the set procedure. I'm getting nowhere - any help appreciated. Is there a detailed re-set procedure somwewhere - or do you just do the "set" procedure?

thanks

Brandon

I've had the same problem setting up a Model Sport branded Viper ESC.

Has your ESC only started doing this or has it been like this since new? You may have the wiring the wrong way round. I know with my M-02L I had to change the motor leads over and that seems to have done the trick.

Do you have the manual for the ESC and have you by any chance messed with the trims etc on the transmitter?

Have you checked the transmitter batteries?

Here's the reset sequence for teu-101:

1. push set button w/ trigger in nuetral

2. pull trigger to forward max and push set button once

3. push trigger to reverse max and push set button once

4. leave it alone for a few seconds to make sure the setting "takes" and then you can turn it off if you want.

That's it.

You dont per chance have the ESC motor wires around the wrong way, and the servo switch in reverse?

Also may havebeen playing with the brake turning it on and off? The symptons kind of sound like you are trying to make the car go forward but having to pull the trigger twice, and even then it's slow because reverse is slower pickup than forward (25ish amp vs 60Amp).

Try flicking the servo reverse switch for the throttle, and the motor wires, then set it up again as above.

90% chance your motor wires are backwards. Change them and see what happens.

Assuming that it did work at one time and you have not done anything physical to the model, what are the answers to the following. Have you checked to see if you reversed the servo on the transmitter? If the radio has more than one model preset are you on the correct one?

FYI, these are both things I have done to myself.

OK thanks a ton guys. I am at a loss as to how things happened - but it is all staightened out - thanks to you guys. Apparently the throttle was reversed when I originally set the car up - which explains why when I hooked up the wires how I thought they should go the motor went in reverse. So I just swapped them - not even thinking about checking for a reverse switch...

And then I guess while flailing away with the ESC I engaged "no reverse". Still don't understand the hows and whys (seemingly working fine with the throttle reverse cancelling the backwards wires and then going to $hi# during a single 15-minute session) but I've set throttle to normal, swapped the motor wires back and re-engaged reverse and reset the ESC. Seems to be working like it should. Phew that was weird. Ahh lessons for re-newb....

Thanks a ton guys - my little guy will be so happy tomorrow when he learns he can drive his car again.

Thanks!

Brandon
