yeah put on some alloy rere Frog hexes and use 2.2" kyosho wheels

not hard to find the orange wheels here but Proline dun seem to make any 2.0" soft minipins anymore;

can use Hotshot rear tyres but ovalblocks don't grip all that well either

orange plastic is much more brittle than WildOne's white nylon too

I just picked on up off fleabay for $25 and it looks complete. I'm looking forward to cleaning it up and using as a runner. I really like my GH II, so I think the SH will please as well.

Rear wheels/tires might be a problem though.... I found a good source for front wheels/tires, but may just opt for adaptors and modern rears if I can't find any good sources.

Rear tyres are still available I think. I bought 4 or 5 sets only a week or two ago, but it was old stock. You should look around though because those tyres were still also used on subsequent buggies like the quite decent looking Mad Fighter, which isn't that old.

might wanna keep an eye out for some new rear wheels perhaps... yours are showing the usual "ring" stressmark,

mainly caused by being broadsided by another RC. Eventually rim parts ways with hub rolling off into the sunset

(and your 8yo playmates would cack themselves LOL'ing... way before LOL term was coined)

Not too rare to see SH kits on shelves still... usually $140-160ish for kit, $295 in the Toytraders shrinkwrapped package deal.

Yeah, I'm on my third set of rims since those pics. Even broke a pair of fronts.

We race them pretty hard at Vintage Boondall meets here in Brisbane. Here is a vid of our last "Insect Cup" :)

This link for the Insect Cup should work.

That looks like about as much fun as you can have with your pants on! I wish we had something like that round here. :)

That race vid looks superb!

On the subject of the super hornet, what improvent can be made to the handling? I'm trying to help a friend with his, it seems like its too fast for itself. Its running a stock 540 motor yet its alot quicker thatn most of my buggies that have 21 turn motors. The main problem is the hornets frequent roll overs. Could the gearing be altered to reduce the speed?

WEIGHT. these cars are too light. you can get lead wheel weights for real cars that have adhesive on the back. the best spot is on the bottom of the chassis to keep the center or gravity down.

HI!... Anyone know where I can find a set of stock (orange) Super Hornet rear wheels and stock rear tires. I'm having no luck.

Thanks :

Neal.

Hi Neal

Can't believe you cant find any over there!? I have a couple of new sets of rear rims they are only like $15 here in Oz. Getting them to you will be the painful bit.

Never looked into tyres coz the originals are not that great. I now run Losi 2.0 step pins.

PM me if you are keen and I'll find out post cost.
