You'd be better off getting a proper charger. You can pick up bargains off ebay - I got an Ansmann ACX10 (I think) which does the job for a tenner. Or you can get a Ripmax charger for about 30 quid new, which seems to be the recommended budget charger...

I am assuming you want to fast charge your battery - slow charging can take over a day with the latest 3300 nimh packs - and rumour has it that slow charging isn't particularly good for nimh packs anyway...

You must get a proper charger, and make sure that it's a peak charger (these detect when the cells are charged and turn off automatically). Prices range from £20 to £300 (really!), for someone new to r/c I would recommend a pro-peak charger for about £39 (http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunction=ShowSpecification&ItemID=11304) Whilst this might seem expensive, it's a solid little charger, will work off the mains or a car battery, and is simple to use. I've been using these for a couple of years now and am very happy with them (I also use more advanced chargers for racing, but they cost over £100 each and are a bit OTT for charging stick packs for Tamiya cars).

i got a pro peak xing charger a while a go, for about £20. it's great, it's got oeak detection and can handle up to 3000's, and can do them in about an hour.
