I have seen them go for upto $300. Maybe even more, they became popular especially just after the Hotshot re issue, as people wanted to build Supershots.

Hi there,

First problem I see is it is missing some hardware. It is also missing Z parts (driver) and the window netting and metal roof, however, if memory serves (I will need to check the vault) these things actually weren't included in the bodyset.

I also note the box isn't perfect, a bit oil stained. I am not trying to lowball you, but the valuation has gone down quite a bit I am afraid :-)

The body set never came with the driver, roof and window netting. The only thing "missing" here is the metal bag, which includes a couple of tapping screws, small clips and the body mount, which are readily available, if one isn't too fussy getting the "original" metal bag that came with the body set.

The box doesn't actually look as bad. But then again, this is not a new old stock set. This was bought in 1987 without the intention of being stored for appreciation. My space is limited too, so unfortunately, some boxes are put under the bed, or under my baby's crib. :o

Hey Paul, $300 was actually more than what I expected, so not a problem. It's open to offers, and even trades. I'd be interested in 1/10 rally and touring car bodies. ahem Loctite R33. :P Will always consider a TA03, but not a stock grey car please. ;)

Also interested in racing stuff. Tamiya Type A tires, NEW black and silver can motors, 10.5 or 13.5 BL motors, and sensored BL ESCs.

I'm in Toronto, Canada by the way.

Hi there,

From a collectors point of view, completeness and condition are important and these things get the big bucks. That doesn't mean low value though, a bunch of people still want these parts for Hotshot to Supershot conversions. I was sure those parts didn't come with the set, except the metal parts bag, I hadn't a chance to visit the hobby room and check though for sure :-)

Keep well and good luck,

Paul.

I thought the Driver part came with the bodyset but the roof and other deffo do not.

I'll check tonight, I have a few of these sets squirreled away... They definitely don't come with roof or window net, those parts come in the window net bag. I don't recall a driver parts coming with the body set (but I am not sure), because the Supershot only uses the driver's head, and it's screwed onto the chassis, not the shell. I do remember the metal parts bag, with at least four body clips and two screws with washers to secure the wing to the wing mount.

As to price - I do think $300 is a bit much... I'd say more realistically in the $150-$200 price range for a complete boxed body set, with better condition sets commanding higher prices. That said, these bodysets now are very rare, and anything can happen if you have more than one bidder with deep pockets. Even the decals for this car are now becoming very rare and command a premium.

I remember a few years back when you could get the decal sheets for $10-$20, and it seemed to be pretty common to pick up complete Supershot bodysets for around US$40. This was back when Frog body sets were going for $180+.

I would agree with that, my valuation was based on maximum complete price in good condition prior to seeing the pictures. After realising the kit was incomplete (Z parts are NOT supposed to be included and are the same as from other kits, like Striker, but metal bag is a problem) my valuation is lower. It is odd, but just a small bag and a few stains halve the value, but that is the way it goes.

I actually think I have a mint lid somewhere, but it would be hard to find. Frog bodysets don't go for $180 any more, I don't think though! It is tough to work out prices.

The last supershot Body on fee-pay sold for $165USD and it was missing box and wing, it was basically a shell with decals, so maybe this guys bodyset is worth £200, I know someone offered me £150 (approx 245USD) for one of my NIB bodysets a month back and i politely declined. Plus you see decal sets selling for around £35 on their own (some try to sell at £50 but i think they will not sell).

That is a good price (for the bodyshell) and a good point too. However, I bet that was an auction and it could have gone for $50 theoretically and hit a good time in the market. I will never understand why something (like something of yours for example) is listed for £50 for ages, then another one, perhaps not even as good comes up on auction and either goes for £80 and yours remains. Human nature is odd, isn't it? I don't bother sending out second chance offers either any more as nobody takes them up, I can't understand why! Supershot decal sheets are worth about $55-$60 shipped.

The only thing that bugs me on ebay is how little some of the "Collectors" actually shop around, in these times i would imagine every one should be watching the pennies and shopping around (i know i do) but lo and behold i still see items selling from other (more expensive) Ebay shops, take for example the 2 Volvo 850 BTCC bodysets i saw sell only last week for £79 each (these are the re-issue bagged versions that sell for £40 from JR-RC) and where that particular seller got them from lol!, and at same time JR-RC had his bagged re-issue body sets listed at £40 and i had my original release BOXED versions on sale for £69 per bodyset, same shipping prices, items shipped within 24 hours but people are either stupid/dont shop around as they are loaded (not you Paul i mean monetarily speaking) or dont like me/my shop lol.

I still see the seller of kyosho in Austria (who sells at 50% above my prices) selling stuff regularly when i have them in stock but i suppose nowts queerer than folk eh?.

Here's to shopping around!

Weird - because I've picked up a Supershot bodyshell on its own a few months back on eBay for US$15 + shipping! Which was good, since I had a spare wing and decals. Admittedly, the seller had sold a couple of others before then so there probably weren't many people trawling eBay for such an item at that point, but still the other body shells only went for $20 to $40.

Seems to be the decals that are hard to get.

US$165 for a Supershot body and decals is, quite frankly, insane...

once upon a time they were worth less than NIB Hotshot bodysets...

Maybe not the right place to ask, but then again...

Will a Hotshot body fit a Supershot?

Jimmy

it should... just looks a bit naked without the front shock filling up the front area
