Well here it goes

About 2 years ago (corresponding with the re-re of HotShot) a flame was rekindled!!

For the last 2 years i was sure that i wanted the HS thinking that i would build it up run it gently, and then look at it in admiration once its on a shelf!

Now being a family man i don’t have alot of neither time nor money!

The hotshot was #1 on my list until i started asking TC members and started getting a more lucid picture of the buggy...the rosie eyeglasses have fallen and i am looking elsewhere!

The reasons that i abandoned the HS

-Limited suspension

-I already own a Novak SS5800 which may be to powerful for the HS and will be difficult to gear.

So being a Tamiya fan i naturally looked at

The Durga!

But once i add the minimum hop-ups like slipper and maybe alu. shocks i am close to the price of the ASSOCIATED B44!

So now i am looking at the B44!

But is it too much!?

So here i am now

Have i gone too far?

Maybe i should look at others makes?

Catarestics the vehicle must have

4WD

Enough suspension travel for bashing around

Preferably kit based

Buggies are preferred

Things i don’t like

Truggies!

stadium trucks and the like

2WD

The vehicle will mostly be used to bash around be able to take the ss5800 and if possible look good on the shelf!

Told you i was on the brink of insanity

If its for bashing get a DF03 or a DF02.

Both are great fun to build, the df03 is more racy than the df02, but its you are not actually racing the df02 is great fun for only a little cash.

If you did want to ever race, then get either the db01 or df03. check out the db01-r as it has loads of modifications

+1 vote for DF-02. Indestructible 4wd buggy that can easily handle a brushless system. Only real complaint is low ground clearance which can be improved with different wheel/tire combo or just replace the shocks w/ DF-03 ones. Tons of fun and parts are plentiful and cheap.

+1 On those choices.

I would NOT get a B44 for bashing. What would be the point?

I'm a big fan of the DB01. It is mid level buggy that straddles the divide between club racer and basher. All the buggy needs is a slipper out of the box (that Tamiya should have included), you could always add a few 3racing hop-ups that would tighten things up latter down the road. As I stated in another thread, you should not waste your money on a DB01R, $300 price, no body, no carbon composite chassis, no deal.

Regardless, get what makes you happy, and what is in your budget. If you want to get a Durango DEX410, pour gasoline on it and set it on fire while jumping a ramp at full speed, then more power to ya! just don't forget to put on youtube :)

Another vote for the DF02. (although i do have an NIB DF03)

I kitted mine out with bigger wheels/tyres and upgraded the shocks and now it really performs.

Throw in a good motor/esc and they will go and go.

Their a nice easy kit to work on, and mine has never let me down......yet!

Whichever you choose, i hope you have fun.
