!. Still waiting to find a review????

2. What happened? The car shouldve ben a success. It fixed the Astutes complexity and lack of suspension travel, had a ball diff, and slipper clutch!! So what happened? Were there ever any reviews comparing the DS against the establishment? Wrong time, right car? After 15 years of lusting after one I just bought one. My FRP/Graphite collection will be complete (Avante, TF, TF EVO, Astute and now DS!!!). But again I ask what happened?

At the time of its release any reviews in the UK magazines were basically just regurgitated press releases, early 90s reviews rarely got radio gear put in them, never mind run against anything else.

What happened was that the Dynastorm was way off being a serious competitor against the Associated RC10CE, Losi Jrx ProSE and Schumacher Cougar 2 Works, all of which were cheaper and handled better and were more reliable.

It fixed the Astutes problems, but introduced a heavy, overcomplicated slipper right where you don't want the weight, as well as sticking with non reinforced plastics and a chassis design which the others had moved on from.

It also didn't help that it only handled well using the kit single rib front tyres, even when those wear down to oversteers everywhere. Running tyres more appropriate to the track surface screwed up the handling entirely while other buggies worked fine out of the box. You could fix the handling problems by adjusting the suspension, but without the support of team drivers you were left to work it out yourself. The other competition buggies just worked as they came, with small tweaks to suit.
