I just found an awesome indoor offroad track in SoCal. Looks like my TF Evo and soon to be built DS will be coming off the selves!!!!!!!!

Are you talking about OCRC in Huntington Beach?

I would love to see a Dyna Storm run in a 2WD class for that track, but it's inevitable that you will break parts eventually while racing... That's not so bad for new cars; the Dyna Storm however doesn't have too many replaceable parts that are easy to get..

I have run my Durga at OCRC many times.. It's an awesome track to be sure - they change the layout fairly often to keep racing fair and to keep the track more interesting.

Yep thats the one. I will only be running the DS once it has the required nimrod parts on it. I plan on keeping the stock chassis, adding the nimrod lexan undertray, suspension arms (FR and RR) and front bulkhead. (anything else I should get?). I was never much of a racer, I just like to go and bash around for a bit. If I get good enough....

If you are on a budget : Chassis and shocks will make the biggest difference - see the most recent test car photos in the thread. standard gear cover is fine, just heavy. I have had the 501x shocks on my car since they were released and they really make a difference. drill another set of holes in the front tower, below the original (again see the photos). There is also the rear carbon shock tower with more holes, but again, if you are on a budget you could just drill the standard tower out.

The arms etc are great, but I would spend on that after the lighter chassis. The main issue with the DS is weight - the chassis is the biggest, heaviest part of the car... :D:(

Better tyres! ...someone say schumacher fronts? :)

And I'd suggest using tamiya wide DF03 etc wide rear wheels and tires too.

The race nights are Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday (Sunday being the biggest race of the week). The rest of the week is considered practice and/or bashing..

You don't have to be too good at racing to start in the Beginner class.. I ran in that class for months just to master basic control.. Once you ace Beginner, then move your car up to Stock class, etc..

Different racing classes have different motor limits etc.. Here is their list:

2wd Truck

2wd Buggy

Intermediate … 27 turn or brushless equal (17.5…) Lipo ok

Sportsman … 27 turn or brushless equal (17.5…) Lipo ok

1/8th Scale ... any 1/8th scale buggy or truggy and any motor or battery combo.

*All classes must have a minimum of 4 cars signed up to run

*ROAR rules will apply at ROAR sanctioned events

Racing Fee - 20.00

Practice Fee - 15.00

If you pay for racing on a race day, practice for that day is included at no additional fee.

----------------------

Contrary to popular belief, you can enter a 4WD in a 2WD class. Why they don't list that is beyond me... Do they really think that all 4WD racers are instant pro's??? Come on...

I only recently moved up to 4WD Modified... Nearly every racer is a well practiced pro and does not make many mistakes.. It's been a whole new challenge racing in this class..

Just so you know, there is another great track in MontClair off the 10 freeway called "Pegasus".. It is an outdoor track and has more of a friendly family feeling to it (compared to OCRC where the people feel much more serious and techical on race days).. I consider Pegasus my home track since it is where I started racing.. I go there more often than OCRC because it is much more relaxed and the racers are more helpful..

Maybe I will see you around.. Let me know if you plan to attend any races..
