Hi all,

Looking to arrange the next meet for the Cider Bashers (and any other interested parties) in South Wales on a Sunday in the next month or so.

The plan is to meet at the tarmac venue in the morning and then move onto the gravel/grass/off-road/scale crawler venue in the afternoon (dinner at the pub opposite or else a trip to F&B / McDonalds which are 2 minutes away).

For those interested in seeing the venues on Video:

In order to make arranging this simple, I'm asking everyone to list the Sundays that they are/are not free.

I will then select a date best suited to the majority :(

Details of venues: (click on the images to go to Google maps live version)

Tarmac venue - Opposite "The Pottery" pub on Trefforest Industrial Estate (CF37 5YR) - The Pottery is located on an Industrial Estate Dual Carriageway, with the entrance to our bash site being directly opposite - Map image is out of date as "Bash Site" is freshly laid Tarmac where the smaller buildings are shown:

Off-Road Venue - Gethin Park is easily reached from the A470. Follow the A470 North (signposted Merthyr Tydfil), go straight across the first roundabout, left at the second roundabout and then immediately bear right (the road splits just off the roundabout). Keep right onto the gravel section and follow to the parking area - Gravel, grass, hills and some nice rocky paths for scale crawlers:

All the best

I'll be there!

I'm busy on 8th and 15th, but free 22nd and 29th.

December starts to get tricky with Xmas shopping trips and family gatherings!

Hoping i'll be able to make this one as its getting too cold for diving :D

not sure what cars i will be able to get ready in time but will do my best to sort out a couple of tamiyas instead of the nitros

Are the nitros able to run or is there a noise problem? i only ask as wouldn't mind blowing the dust off the revo ;)

Hope to see you all there

Hi Rich,

The tarmac one is out the back of some business units. They aren't normally in use on a Sunday so might be OK (but not tried any Nitro there yet).

The afternoon one should be fine - can't imagine there will be anyone there to complain at this time of year. ;)

Be nice to catch up and maybe race the beasts!

Take care

Be nice to catch up with both of you.

Looking forward to the meet - just hope the weather starts to get better before then. Mind you, we've run on-road at the Tarmac venue in the rain without issue, so could be amusing!

Take care for now all

22nd it is then!

Just a quick word of caution for everyone coming along the M4 - there is a ridiculously long 50 limit in both directions.

For some insane reason, South Wales Police have seen fit to place SPECS cameras along the majority of the length, plus several Gatso cameras for good measure!!!!!!! Bleeding annoying as the majority of the stretch has no road works going at at all...

Rant over.

Look forward to seeing everyone

What is the meeting plan for Sunday?

Are we converging first at the House of Lemming, or are we going to meet directly at the tarmac venue?

What time are peeps aiming to arrive?

Very good questions... B)

I'm very aware that people are coming large distances to get here, so the time is really up to what you guys/gals feel is manageable.

I was initially planning to meet up around 10:30 at the Tarmac venue (making sure I'm there from 10). Thought it might ensure a good amount of run-time in the morning, then a break for an early lunch so we don't lose the light at the second venue (darn winter nights). That way we can then all pile back to mine for coffee and a chance to warm up to round off the day - although I haven't told the missus that part of the plan yet!

Depends how people feel though. If you'd all like a break after driving to Wales and a chance to chill out and chat then I'm quite happy for all to meet at mine.

I'll leave this open to comment about preferences until later this evening (say 8pm - after the wife gets home) and check back to make a final call based on your input at that point.

All the best

Sounds like a plan then.

See everyone there 10:30 or thereabouts. If anyone wants my mobile number, drop me a PM and I'll send it through.

Take care all

I won't be able to make this one, had to work today so no time to get everything uptogether and what with this weather today I fear what it will be like tomorrow.

Hope you all have a good day.

No worries, we'll catch you again soon.

I'm prepared for the weather with full waterproofs!

I'm more worried about the fact it got dark at 4:30 today... Might be a push to make both venues and lunch, so will have to see how it goes and everyone feels. :P

See some of you tomorrow

And what a fun day it was, despite being bone-chillingly cold! (for us soft UK types, at least)

Matt - I still have your 7.2 stick pack, don't panic, I'll put it somewhere safe until the next meet. Like in my Crawler.

Steve - hope you're not still feeling bad about the MB shell, I'll do some repairs tonight and post up some pics. Please don't feel bad about the damage and don't worry about replacing it. However, if you can provide further details of that Scorcher for sale and possibly negotiate me a good deal then I may be inclined to forgive you sooner ;) ;) :)

The poor thing was not looking healthy at all... :(

Rich has been waiting for Scorcher pics for blinking ages as it should be a good deal... I'll chase Mike again and get a bidding war started!

Added some quick pics from the meet on Sunday here: Pontypridd Bash - December 2009

Think Matt might kill me though

Quite a range there, really hope to make the next bash.

Hi Dean! Be nice to catch up again soon. :(

Video is up here: Jump Mania

Unusual chance to see some nice Vintage Tamiya models havin as much fun jumping as modern stuff does.

Had song choice issues, so went with 3 different songs!!!!!!!

Hopefully those who attended will get the gist of the music choice and order ;)

Got to say that Matt made a superb obstacle to jump (sorry about the ankle/Avante issue) and the Bruiser simply looks stunning :D

Take care all and have a great Christmas!

Great video, the jumps looked amazing.

Been trying to find some possible Bristol venues, Aztec West looks not bad with easy access from motorways etc - lots of car parks there but none appear that big though

Have a Merry Christmas all.

Dean

P.S checkout my new red and chrome baby
