Mines pretty simple, when I joined TC many moons ago I couldnt think of a username, looked up at my shelf with my Capri Zakspeed on it and thought yeah Zakspeed will do :-)

My picture in my showroom front page shows my Capri that I still have, sadly the Zakspeed model has long since gone but i have another ready to be built in time.

My avatar is just from one of my all time favorite buggys taken on a sand dune in Wales in 2007 - just love the picture :-)

Funny thread....

Anyway, Skottoman is my online name based off my Nickname "Skotto". I actually did an an exchange program to Japan when I was 14 (1983), and they couldn't pronounce my name (scott), without a vowel sound at the end. So they called me Skotto. Bought a Tamiya countach 5000 new from a store on that trip...

Avatar is not my normal avatar used on other forums, just my latest ZE-BRA Wild Willy 2.

Cheers,

Skottoman

Long story:

I used to play Counterstrike a lot (online shoot 'em up for those that aren't familiar with it.) & at the time, dial-up internet was expensive & slow.

To be able to practice, I setup my own game server with artificial opponents (bots), each one was named after a cartoon character, Daffy, Bugs, Porky, Yosemite etc.

To fit in with my chosen theme I set myself up as Blacque Jacque & it's stuck ever since then.

As for my TC avatar, it's the box art from my first Tamiya

The avatar's my F103GT Courage, of course. My introduction to pan cars earlier this year for better or worse (we'll see how it can be repurposed for parking lot fun now that I'm running the 15th Anniversary F103 on carpet with much greater success). I'll probably change it soon to my nearly-finished Super-G, hopefully on the beach - and finished.

The handle is pretty much my universal username. I entered the PDA/smartphone trend early, like, in '97, with a Sharp Zaurus ZR-5800FX, a PDA with a keyboard I can actually touch-type on when the occasion calls for it and a side-mounted 2400 baud modem. It came with Compuserve software and I went online for the first time from home using none other than that little thing, and experienced my first message boards (Compuserve forums) with it. The rest is history, but not the PDA. Well, THAT one was laid to rest over five years ago after a very good run. I tried to wire a new MSC into it, but alas, it was a PDA. I'm on my second, bought second hand, with a third as a spare. Traveled some of the world with both and still use it to track my finances and make my larger "life plans." It also houses spreadsheets of mods for current Tamiyas, 'cause I'm every bit that much of a nerd.

If vintage Tamiya lovers have learned anything, it's that the "latest and greatest" aren't necessarily the best.

As far as my username goes, lets just say that Tamiya cars aren't my only hobby ;)

My avatar is a truck that I built a couple of years ago that I called the "Cloddenator". I used that pic because the one of me throwing corpses around wasn't accepted by the mods

My user name comes from my 1972 Oldsmobile 442 W-30. The last year for the factory blueprinted 455 ci Ram Air Muscle Car. In the vin in 1972, the W-30 engine code was "x". Hence the name 442xcar. Great car from the early 70's. Gets 8 mpg city, and that drops to 6 mpg highway with the highest octane premium fuel I can find.

My avatar is a nib 58001 kit. I love anything with a pan chassis and no suspension. Currently working on putting a vintage Tamiya 1/12 Lola Mk3B body on a 58005 chassis. Preliminary test fit shows this car is going to be incredible. Going to paint it red with Denny Hulme decals.

Life is good!

Username: My first r/c kit was a Tamiya many, many years ago then I "left" the r/c world for a number of years. I returned to my roots which were Tamiya kits. Hence the name: back to my roots = backtomyroots .

Silly ? yes ! But I like it. I use it on a few r/c forums because I couldn't be bothered to come up with a new name !

Avatar ? Usually I just swap it around with some photos of my favourite builds .

My TamiyaClub name is just a reminder of what was my biggest frustration back in 1983. I was a BMX racer, and wanted a Mongoose bike soo badly. Never had it (but a few years ago I got a much sweeter 1984 Kuwahara Survivor 2.5, a legendary Japanese BMX bike)...

My avatar is just one of the coolest decals ever made by Tamiya. The Boar that goes perfectly well with the 1985 Toyota 4x4 Bruiser Mud Bog racer.

You all have a great weekend!

Now I'm finally off to sleep

;):P Smiles all around this fine morning. I really enjoyed reading all the posts and will continue reading the other ones too.

Some very interesting reads and if only Andy's link would open I would get the knitwear bit.

Thanks for all the posts and I hope to see some more.

Cheers

Well, my username is pretty simple. I'm Richie and loaded isn't the only one here that's "loaded".

My avatar is my first RC10...a team car from 1993. I still have it. Pics are in my showroom.

Completely pointless spur of the moment choice when paying my subs last yr. I'm known as Worsey to everyone generally, so lord knows why I didn't just choose that. Might change it actually.

To redeem my choice I've been trying to get hold of the Lethal Weapon font (Serpentine Bold Oblique if anyone has it) to make up a similar avatar but no luck as yet.

I have a deep interest in Japanese history and culture. Saito comes from Saito Hajime, leader of the 3rd army of the Shinsengumi. He kept to himself and was a man of few words which most people (except for my closest friends) have said the same of me. If you're into anime or manga, he is portrayed and shown quite frequently in the Rurouni Kenshin series.

My avatar is pretty obviously my treasured Clodbuster and my Tc name was inspired by an old favourite 1990's Techno track with "Novastar, take me to the top" lyrics plus I needed something unique when joining Tamiyaclub.

When I was younger, my mates used to pronounce my surname as "fournil" (it's really Thornhill) and it changed to 4-0 from then on. I don't even like football.

My avatar is usually just my favorite photo at that time. Come to think of it I need a new one. B)

I don't have an avatar pic yet, but my nickname is about riding motorcycles. I make a living playing in traffic to deliver mail and also ride for leisure. If anyone here has followed the newsgroup rec.motorcycles they may also spot another reference. I also use RevDWC in other forums. This alludes to my ordainment in the Church of the SubGenius.

To all who know French, my name needs no further explanation. Mouton is one of the French words for sheep. Now, why a sheep in the first place? Well, it was either that or Tweety Bird! As the Oscar-winning canary would seem less creative I opted for the sheep for most online forums. When I signed up on TC my name was Le Parrain, which is also French, meaning The Godfather. It had no reference to the movies and was merely a tribute to my goddaughter. I later decided to stick with the sheep.

Morover, Tamiya's Audi quattro is driven by Michelle Mouton, so Mouton it works here as well.

Oh mais I know Mouton my bon amis. Cousin of mine who was Governer of the great state of Louisiana in 1843....... I knew you had to be a french transplant when I saw that screen name !!!

No, I'm not the real Kenny G. It's a nickname i've had for 20+ years. It comes from everyone who thinks their funny when they first meet me and find out my name is Kenny Greer. It usually goes something like this: "Kenny Greer? Thats funny, it's like Kenny G! You gonna play a song with your sax Kenny G? Wahahaha!". Thats when I say "sure" and kick them in the nuts and then I say "nice song huh?" Okay, not really, but everone always thinks they are the first to make this conection. As for my avatar i'll get to it someday...

I think you will find that Paul's name is not because of his wealth, it is because he is always full of czech beer...am I right Paul? lol

I chose the name because just for once I would like people to address me as Sir.....without being followed by the words "please come down to the station with us"
