berman 5315 Posted February 4, 2010 How come there's no Jackman Wheels stickers on it? I think.... because Jackman Wheels would be white on the Scorcher, so Walter must have Rad22rad's awesome alloys!
Badboy 94 Posted February 4, 2010 Look how happy he is!!! Did it ever ocurr to him that Tamiya made an icon when releasing the Sand Scorcher back in 1979? Thats a truely awesome picture!!! (I see that you got more than one signatyre on the box!!!) Congrats mate!!! Now for the BIG Question!!! How does it sound??? Let us hear it!!! WE WANT VIDEO!!! skinned 134 Posted February 4, 2010 Here are the first pics of the BUGBOX Scorcher from the Nuremberg Toy Fair:http://www.tamiya.de/de/galerie.htm?intId=65406 I'm going to check it out in person tomorrow! Waheey! wish i could say that....."im going to check it out tomorrow, in person"
HunterZero 76 Posted February 4, 2010 Haha! Wonder if Tamiya will now do their own 'hop up' aluminium front bumper to match the box art and real car? Looks absolutely fantastic... Only thing is that the rear tires are so close to the fender, because they are so large. The wheels appear to be moved back a bit on the model? - James
mongoose1983 3335 Posted February 5, 2010 I'm very happy that Tamiya was not involved in the process of making the real size sand scorcher, because Walter did it the best possible way. He make the car look like the original Sand Scorcher, with the period decals and the legendary Acoms radio. The car is really a dream-come-true!!
Gamester 1 Posted February 5, 2010 Holly cow, that is the coolest idea ever! That turned out beautifully! Nice work!
BUGBOX 3 Posted February 5, 2010 How come there's no Jackman Wheels stickers on it?Looking awesome, fellas!!! Are we supposed to click on the ad/link for the buildthread? If so, it doesn't woork for me... Badboy http://bugbox.skynetblogs.be/ The BOX ART didn´t have Jackman Wheels stickers! But you´re right, I was unsure about that, too when we put the model next to the real car! Walter

Corpse Thrower 16 Posted February 5, 2010 If we find time, we will make a second set of rear fenders to everybodies taste and also that we can jump with the car!Walter The rear fender looks the right proportions to the Sand Scorcher. So instead of that, could you get some longer trailing arms made? Move the rear wheels further back like on the model? I'm sure the off-road boys could sort you out with trailing arms any size you like.
Dante77 11 Posted February 5, 2010 I saw it in the flesh today and I have to say: Walter and the whole Bug Box team, AWESOME job! Every detail is just perfect!!! How did you manage to pull it of in such a short time? I noticed it even says 'Sand Scorcher' on the Valve Covers! Here are some pics I took at the Fair including some detail shots: http://img200.imageshack.us/g/img9104t.jpg/ Thanks for making us this great gift!

Live Steam Mad 17 Posted February 14, 2010 The 1:1 Scorcher TV clip is now online! http://www.kabeleins.de/auto/videos/sonstiges/artikel/23121/ Be patient, there might be a commercial at the beginning! Unfortunately if you aren't from Germany you can't see it. I get an error in my web browser telling me that this video is "only avialable in certain countries". Oh well. I used to use Proxysel to get around this with Firefox 3 and certain youtube videos but it was incompatible with Firefox 3, I'll see if there is a new version.
