What 17-19t motor do you guys recommend. I want to replace my speed gems cause it doesn't seem like a good motor. It would be most appreciated if you could help me. Guest Carsnboats Posted February 12, 2003 I haven't tried mine at a race meeting yet, but I have speed tuned gears and a 17 double. It is definitely quick and has good acceleration. Hope that helps. My spec is : CLK DTM2000 D2, Ballraced, Stabilisers, lightweight chassis, speed tuned gears, hollow carbon gear shafts, carbon prop shaft, cva shocks and racing spring set QR battery release Mtroniks Tempo speed control Mtroniks Vision modifed 17 x 2 2000mah nicad pack. limas_mtb 0 Posted February 13, 2003 Ok, here's mine: TL01-LA Full Ballbearings, All Carbon axles, Speed tuned gearset + 23tooth pinion (largest possible), Front stabilizer Alloy low-friction shocks & hard (blue) springs, Mugen Integra body M-troniks 8T ESC fwd/Brk Battery: Peak Racing 7.2V 3000MAh NiMH Motors? various:10x2(Peak), 11x3(Yokomo) 13x4(LRP), Stock(Mabuchi). The car works better with the 13x4 LRP V10 motor than any of the others (no mad spinning, just accelerating). Also ordered a Trinity 15x2 to experiment with. Twmaster 1 Posted February 13, 2003 I have my TL-01 setup for TCS Spec racing. Even with the stock kit motor it runs along nicely. Of course it is nowhere near the same as the really modified and hopped up TL-01's, TA-03's and TA-04's I've seen at the local track. The only legal hop up I have not done to mine is the addition of the LA arm set. Otherwise all mods to Spec for the class. Jimmy_GT-R 5 Posted February 13, 2003 I still wander why people buy 17turn motors and upwards, like 23 turns etc. They are pointless, its been proven a 27 turn stock motor, P2k2, MVP, Rage and GM3 can all keep with a 17-19 turn mod and they have less battery consumption too(efficiency). So unless u'r buying a 14 turn motor or less, stick with a stock motor, and learn to tune it with spring combos and different brushes. Although the Chameleon 2 seems to have the legs on stock motors, its sort of a hybrid, best of a stock motor with the best from a mod motor, using similar magnets to a stock motor which makes it very fast, also good efficiency too. Worth a look. Thanx Jimbo
