Novak Ss5800 And Hotshot

Do you gentlemen think that the Novak SS5800 will always thermal in the hotshot?(because i cant use a small enough pinion)

probably will... especially if yours is the original 5800 without sintered rotor and your magnets have heatcycled weaker

usually it'll be the SS ESC that gets hotter; i bolted a fan onto mine

could run it on 5c to reduce heating too

I have the original ss5800..so i can pretty much forget about getting the HS or The boomerang i must be able to use my brushless setup

Novak offers a sinter rotor for the SS...I believe their current sintered rotor for the 540 brushless motor fits with no problems as long as you add the endbell with oversized bearing...

But even with the sintered rotor wil it thermal!? i wonder...

I updated mine with the sintered rotor and cooling fan kit for the esc...it's installed in a Traxxas Stampede that sees lots of time in the grass with no problems...

If you haven't bought HS yet buy the Boomerang. It's got open radio tub that gives more cooling & twin shocks at the rear.

Yes you can upgrade the rotor or just change the motor, can find good used ones for less than the upgrade kit IMHO. 4300 or 9.5, 8.5 etc should work on 225W.

I just find mine overheat faster & more regularly when the rotor magnets are weakened, probably as the ESC has to pump more current for same power output.

My heart is set on the HS...
