I must admit I'm well tempted by the dedicated crawler chassis. I've got a NIB Unimog on order from ebay and I was going to build it as stock and convert to a dedicated crawler at a later date. But seeing how reasonably priced that chassis kit is I'm quite tempted to just go for the conversion straight away. Those Junfac red shocks look quite yummy too. Need to see how poor I am after Xmas is over.

That is nice, I quite like it.

Anyone have those shocks, I would be keen to know how well they work. I cannot seem to find any reviews on them. They are the G-Transistion I believe?

Hi All,

I am in a quandry whether to buy this kit or not. I have a CR-01 that has the RC Channel axles on it, so I have a spare set of kit axles that have never been used so with some shocks and universal prop shafts, this would make a fairly inexpensive crawler. I also have an RC4WD R2 Gearbox that I could put in it, with some mods and of course some electronics.

It is either this option, or sell the CR-01 axles, R2 tranny and stump up the rest for a Losi Comp Crawler...I really like the Losi, but I am always looking for something a little 'different' and not as common. The Losi has its problems as well, in particular, parts availability and the fact that worm axles are prone to massive wear and are very inefficient at transmitting power...less so than bevels anyway.

The MAIN problem with the CR-01 option is the abhorrent steering....CR-01 cater for 4WS and I dont really go for that, and with 2WS, the steering travel is POOR.....I cannot seem to find many mods to improve the steering geometry...

Can the CR-01 steering angles be improved, and if so, lack of CVD upgrades means they will always have a problem with the std kit dogbone setup....
