Modified Motors

hi,

i'm thinking of buying a new motor and i'm wondering how good the 53485 TAMIYA SUPER MODIFIED MOTOR 11T is compared to the other modified motors such as the reedy kr, team orion revolution v2, team orion d5/d6 etc?

i wouldn't reccomend an 11t on a manual speed control, and if you have an esc, make sure it can handle that low a turn. if you've got an esc that can handle it though, it should be great fun

Well, purists would say, Tamiya, Racers would say any of the other ones, the Orion for lack of maintenance.

I've got a no limit esc so the number of turn aren't really a problem. Btw, I forgot to add that I'm hoping to put these motors in my offroad buggies. One is an rw racing manta ray and the other is a top force with a couple of hopups. Will the drivetrain stand up to so much power? Both of them have metal motor mounts and both have stronger prop shafts aswell. I will probably go for the reedy kr in one and the tamiya super modified in the other

Off Road the Super Modified 11t will be next to useless as it's an 11x3 had has lots of top end but very little in the way of torque. Well, this is all IMHO (in my humble opinion) of course, but they are really designed for high speed on road rather than off road. I'd suggest avoiding the 11t Super Mod for off road.

If you are prepared buy a full modified I would recommend the Orion Revolution V2s. The round angled brushes mean they go on forever before needing a rebuild. Orion V2s are current European Champions in 4wd and they ran through the meeting without being rebuilt. Other motors were rebuilt after every race. Choose one of their Touring motors as they have more torque for 4wd cars both on and off road.

The Orion Revolution V2 is also rebadged as the Tamiya Transpeed 9 turn motor, but thats a bit hot for a buggy.
