Just thought I would introduce myself. I'm Steve, I live in Rochester Kent at the moment but in the process of moving to Knoxbridge Kent where my partner has just taken over a garden centre.

I've always had an interest in r/c trucks but since becoming disabled through illness have taken this up as my main hobby. I already had a King hauler and a very cheap copy of one also called king hauler but about eighth of the price!. The fake one I've just started cutting up and extending the chassis to make into a recovery truck and will change all the radio gear and running gear.

I am also in the process of building an offroad camper truck based on the M.A.N. truck built on a tractor mower chassis and engine. This one is 1:3 scale, so quite a big beasty. And last of all I'm building a american motorhome from scratch which is 1:12 scale. Which one I work on each day depends on my mood or mobility!! :o

I hope to make it to some of the meets next year and where I'm moving to has plenty of land as well as a carpark and a small road around the site, so maybe I can hold a small meet for trucks there next year.

I've been very disappointed by the lack of clubs and magazines that cater for r/c trucks like the king hauler, knight hauler, scanias and the like. Most Magazines and clubs cater for Aircraft, boats or Monster truck rock climbing type vehicles or racing.

Having read this forum, there seems to be a wide selection of vehicle which is great to see!. :P

This sounds fascinating - would certainly love to see some pics of it. Stupid question but what sort of application are you building it for, is it R/C?

If you're into scratch bulding scale stuff there's a great thread about a scratch built Dakar truck that you might be interested in here ---> Dakar Build

I've just been reading it myself, wish my skills were up to stuff like this.

Oh, and welcome to the forum!

Here are 3 pictures of the 1:3 scale M.A.N. truck.

(the mig welder isn't a permanent fixture!)

as you can see it's still in it's very early stages but all of the radio controlled bits work. The steering, accelerater, choke, clutch actuater, light switch and engine starter / stop.

I've just started building the cab.

The real M.A.N. in the picture is what I am aiming for it to look something like.
