Happy Christmas everybody!

How much of their rated capacity do NiMH and LiPo batteries have at freezing temperatures? I have some 3700 Vapex batteries (and LiPos in my helicopters). Many thanx.

Just as much capacity cold as hot. :)

The problem is getting them to give it up when cold. The cold slows down the chemical reaction and power drops as a result. For NIMH this means the packs will feel very weak and flat to the point that very little speed and power will be possible. For lipo, which reacts worse to the cold, it will hit the LVC early as voltage drops in the cold and runtime will be shortened.

In the past I've used pocket warmers and kept my batteries in my pockets. They warm enough from the start and keep warm because of the running. Pocket warmers are very cheap to buy.
