Ko Propo Vfs-1

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I'm looking at buying a KO Propo VFS-1 ESC for brushed motors. Can anyone tell me the specific differences between the VFS-1 Competition, Competition 2 & Competition 3?

Thanks

David

The difference is the software, the default programming is different. As battery and motor technology has developed they have produced newer default software profiles to match.

Once you add the programmer or PC link to create your own profiles there are no difference at all.

BTW the distributor is clearing stocks right now and selling them new at £44.

The competition 2 practically removed the thermal overload protection. It's was set so high that the ESC would be damaged if it was ever reached. In high level competition, the ESC is expendable...

The competition 3 added a "23T super stock" racing profile as standard and added low voltage lipo protection.

Any of them are great. Personally I would just get whatever's cheapest. They are also sold as Hot Bodies "Twister", Corrally, Muchmore, Tamiya "Volac" and a few other brand name wrapings. All are identical...

The dirty deed has been done. I'd seen it on eBay but didn't know if I should buy the latest version, hence the questions. I've got one from RC Disco through eBay for £37.95, I hope you guys don't mind having your brains picked about the programming. Any hints on where and what to pay for a hand held programmer?

I think I got mine used for about $30 shipped out of some Asian country. Smelled like stale cigarettes when I opened it. Works great though.

Check on eBay and rctech for them. Should be cheap now that brushless is all the craze.

As for custom profiles, Ko Propo USA's website has some good starting points. There is also a VFS-1 thread on rctech started back in 2004 that has tons of info and setups. Kinda hard to wade through the 166 pages though. Probably best to start at the end and work your way back:
