I am after some new shocks for my MB restore and really want ones like the standard ones. Does anyone know if the ones from the Hotshot (Tamiya 50304 CVA Long Shock Unit Set ) would fit? it looks like they fit a few different cars but the MB is not listed? I cant seem to find MB ones on the net or e-bay.

The option CVAs listed in the manual are #50305 CVA Short Shock Unit. These are now discontinued and replaced with the #50520 CVA Short Shock Unit II. These are black and not yellow like the #50305 set.

Many models like the DF01s (Blazing Star, Manta Ray) used these yellow damper in the kit. The #50520 CVAs are far better units than the originals being adjustable damper rates (1 to 3 hole instead of the solid metal piston of the original). There's 2 dampers in a set, so you need 2 sets.

I do see some #50305's on eBay if you are set on having yellow dampers.

I receantly redone 3 blackfoots with all new parts even the original yellow shocks but they were different part

numbers than the original monster beetles.I got all the stuff from my local hobby shop.they got it all direct from

tamiya.I had to figure out every thing to bye from tamiya usa website.but there same size as original.New black

ones are smaller and smaller spring diameter to my knowledge.I have a 4th set for another project,I could get those part numbers off them if you want.it was everything minus the springs. 1-package had 4 shafts and all rubber parts.

1- pack had all pistons and shock bottom mount?

1-pack had 3 shock body,s and caps.(from diff car same shock though)

You end up with too many shock body's 2 left over.anyway i could check my stuff and write down exact specifics if

you like cause I'm sure of all the details cause I'm at work right now.some times you can pick up these shocks in red

from old super sabre but the shock bottom mount is the piston parts tree so if you dont get that tree(red plastic) you have to use blackfoot shock mount.if anyone knows replacement sping numbers i'd be interested,

let me know

Another question re the CVA's is the damper body length, are they all the same? ie If I bought some of the longer Hotshot ones could I just change the spring and rod to make them into short CVA's or is there more to it?

i got some manta ray shocks for £1.04 off ebay. all you have to do is change the springs and the bottom mounts for shorter ones. blackfoot ones fit too i have some on ebay at the moment.

By bottom mounts do you mean the rod? I thought the cup at the bottom was the same?

I just need two CVA's and its looking like two tops as I cant get the paint off.. My car currently has two CVA and two alloy ones but I'm being anal and want them to match

Dear boothy,

sorry it took so long. but i have those part numbers on cva shock.

x-parts 0225034 usd 4.50 you'll need 4 (internalshock piston)

damper bag 9405299 usd 9.50 you'll need 1 (metal rod and rubber parts)

y-parts 0225035 usd 3.50 you'll need 4 (shock bodies)

you'll also need 8-2mm e clips for shock pistons, may want extra there small and easy to loose.

i couldn't that stock number but someone else here might have it.

unfortunatly 0225035 temp. out of stock last i checked, but distributor might have.

all info found on tamiya usa website.

good luck,

skipp

p.s. have to use your old springs unless someone knows replacements.
