thanks for the input everyone. if this one is ever produced, i have a few more i would like to see in r/c form. here's my top 10 cars that should be made:

1. 1971-73 mustang mach 1. i actually owned one when i was a teenager. it was long but like the design.

2. 1970-71 ford torino gt fastback. nice styled intermediate car with big block power.

3. 1968-73 chevy corvette stingray coupe. love the mako shark look. very agressive

4. 1968-71 chevy chevelle. great looks and nice body lines.

5.1968-70 dodge charger. need to produce for 190-200mm on road chassis.

6. 1968-70 pontiac gto judge. what else can i say...........

7. 1967-69 pontiac firebird. the camaro alternative.

8. 1969-73 holden. the chevy from down under. the falcon's rival.

9. 1984-87 buick grand national/gnx. not your mom's typical grocery getter.

10. 1968-71 oldsmobile cutlass 4-4-2, buick gs-x. the muscle cars with class.

these are just my pics from the top of my head. feel free to add more. will keep everyone updated on the faclon body as soon as i hear something.

The Landau is a LTD 2-door in it's own right and not an XB. The panelwork is quite different, althought the floorpan is the same as the XB (Compare the back windows).

Not quite mate.

Ever ripped the vinyl roof off a Landau?

I did, and what I found was a spot welded panel to fill in the window to make it appear squared off. When I stripped the car I took the back windows out, and sure enough they are a match for the XA/XB. They are basically exactly the same shell, with just a few minor alterations and different front sheetmetal. Great running gear, though. 351, FMX, 9 inch, 4 wheel discs, and tramp rods :D

The wheelbase discussion is an interesting one....the wheelbase for the coupe and sedan I always thought to be the same, and the wagon, ute and panelvan was the bigger one. The reason for the lack of legroom in the coupe is because back seats are further forward than in the sedan, because of the shape of the roof around the rear window. I can't explain why you had trouble with the tailshafts going from one to the other.

In this thread the IQ level went down 30 points in the last 12-15 posts.

Can we leave the neanderthal ford/holden banter out and talk about the original topic again please?

I feel the need to smack myself in the face with a ball pein hammer... or go check my FWD Honda driveshaft length to see how long the wheelbase is...

Cheers.

Anyway, Interceptor shell, polycarbonate/lexan, great idea!

I think it would help if we all sent emails, letters.

Very nice list you got there, I'll go out on a limb here-

'69-'71 Dodge Super Bee (same as Charger/Coronet but cooler IMO)

'68-'71 Plymouth Road Runner (gutted midsize that really heated up the muscle race)

'69-'70 AMC AMX or Javelin (the oddballs)

'68-'70 Mercury Cougar Eliminator/Spoiler cars

BTW, we could go all day about Chevy vs Ford, I'm done

the cars you metioned, my brothers had ALL those cars when i was growing up. i have 6 older brothers and they all had different cars. my older brother has a 1969 cougar xr7 right now, but he's waiting for me to return to build the engine for him. he's either thinking a 351 cobra jet he bought from i guy i knew a few years ago, or just go with a big block 429/460.........decisions, decisions. all the cars listed wouldn't be hard to build, just trying to get the license from the manufacturers so they can be duplicated in r/c form. hpi already has the charger, they just need to make it for on road and modify the front and rear so it can be made into either the super bee, coronet, roadrunner, or the gtx. any other cars you think should be made into r/c????

Hi Guys: I am sorry I drifted from this wonderful thread over the Mad Max cars. My mom passed away so everything has been emotional, exhausting and just **** sad.

I've been trying to get back in the "real" and was heartened to see how much everyone got going on this. Especially the contact to Mr. Herrera at HPI. What a wondeful idea!

I will knock out some frame blow ups for reference if it is a help to any of us wanting to do a Falcon (blue, red, yellow Interceptor) or the Manaro (Black Beauty).

And yes American muscle was beautiful, but not always functional. Especially MOPAR's that just want to got straight!!!

Best to all and more to follow. Guy "Jumpinugly"

p.s. By the way. How do I clear my old attachments so I can upload new ones????

Guys: Just a quick follow-up. According to the art director of Mad Max both the Interceptor and the Black Beauty were Ford Falcons. The Black car was A Falcon XB Coupe with a Monza front end. Made a ton of frame blow-ups. Let me know how to get them on the site. Thanks, Guy

Guys:

On my early two posts I made a couple of mistakes. I'll clarify...

"I will knock out some frame blow ups for reference if it is a help to any of us wanting to do a Falcon (blue, red, yellow Interceptor) or the Manaro (Black Beauty)."

1) I was incorrect about even mentioning a (Holden) "Manaro" as both cars were in fact Falcons.

2) The Black beauty was a 1973 Falcon GT XB Coupe with a Monza front end. The film's art director said it was a Monza front end, but some sites list it as a "Concorde" front end.

Again, I made a bunch of frame blow-ups. If anyone has any clues as to how I can post them here I will as I cannot seem to clear my used "attachment space" on this site.

Best to all as usual. -- Guy

hi everyone!!! i'm FINALLY HOME!!!!! after about 3+ days of travel plus out-processing from iraq, i haven't had the time to post anything or read the new posts. first off, let me just say thanks to everyone that contributed to this post and to all the pics. i never knew there were a big following of the mad max series and so many fans of the interceptor. after reading the last few posts, and seeing the pic oft the amc javelin as the interceptor, i'm more that determined in trying to get the interceptor made into 1/10 scale. thanks davecul for the link to the kyosho mini-z interceptor. i'm suprised they made a small version of the car. i thought a bigger version would have been better for r/c, but i guess kyosho figures that smaller is better :) . as for the movie "mad max", the cars that were used was fords and a holden. the black car that "night rider" was driving at the beginning of the movie was in fact a holden while the chase cars and max's yellow interceptor were ford falcon 4 door. if you go to the link that was posted earlier in the forum, the website will give you a breakdown of all the vehicles that were used in the movie and some that you saw for just a second. that's where i got the interceptor pic from. as for r/c, it would be nice to have a limited run of all the main cars from mad max in 1/10 scale since the movie was made 30 years ago and now that a new "mad max" will be out by 2012. that would be perfect timing since "road warrior" was released in 1982. that's just my thoughts about it, feel free to comment.......
