this looks pretty awesome. I'd be inclined to get one as a back yard basher, how does the gearbox look? Think it will handle a brushless setup?

I hope so; http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.a...8620&id=169 :)

Unless you mean brushless/silly fast, in which case I dunno yet.

They recommend;

Motor: 19Turn - 60Turn motor (for Rock racing: 23Turn motor/14T pinion gear, for Rock Crawling: 50Turn motor/ 9T pinion gear)

i was thinking the same thing,a ezrun system 9t or 13t.

on the EZRUN systems a 9t or a 13t would actually be a 380 sized motor in a 540 can. anything with a ".5" afterwards is a true 540 such as a 8.5 or a 9.5. With 4wd and what not the 380 might get hot. the 8.5t in my Lunch Box doesn't even get lukewarm after driving it full blast for 30+minutes.

Twin, I was reading in the comments from that last link that someone was saying an 8 turn brushless was equivalent to a 16 turn brushed? If this is true then the 8.5T I have would work perfectly =)

No, spare set body panels, spare decal sheet and a cap

You'll have to bear with me on the science of brushless, I'm still trying to work out which wire to cut off :)

Anyway, enough talk;

Great work so far Andy, sorry what motor is that ? And what esc will you be running ? I need the details .

It's an EZRun crawler, comes with ESC; http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.a...8620&id=169

The motor is very long though, with the transmission in the 'stock' position the motor won't fit.

I've moved the transmission back a few mm and it's just right, although the driveshafts aren't symmetrical any more (front one's longer due to tranny moving back)

Thanks ! How long is the motor in total then ? Was the tranny made to move or did you have to "fabricate" ?
