Have you noticed how you can scan eBay for just about most parts for your Tamiya pride and joy, yet when I search for spares for an Ansmann electric I get next to nothing?

We recently lost <_< the front driveshaft from the Royal Flash and the only way to get another is from a LHS. They come in pairs and are £15 a set of two

Loooks like it will either run 3 wheel drive  or get stripped for spares.

So is it just that a lot of new kits from Tamiya get parted out from the box to go on ebay and Ansmann dealers ain't cottoned on to this money making deal yet? Thoughts?

I think it is that:

1. Ansmann still is a relatively small RC manufacturer, making spares availability smaller.

2. Tamiya simply has a huge spares and hopup availability (Something which many manufacturers, even the bigger ones, don't have on such a massive scale).

3. The percentage of RTR's sold vs. kits is already high at manufacturers like Tamiya, but I think Ansmann practically sells RTR's only. Tamiya's are meant to be built, repaired, maintained and rebuilt. I think the Ansmann cars are not made for that kind of life, they are meant to stay in one piece (since they were bought in one piece), although they do give you the opportunity to break it down if you do need to (since it's rebuildable)

I thought that too Willy Chang, other parts are in the same price range though.

The Royal flash was never a hit with us, so we took the descision to strip it and ebay it.

The parts like diffs, suspension assy's, propshafts (alloy) etc sold for 99p start price. No one seemed interested. You or certainly I, would have thought with the amount of Royal flash and Master smackers sold (quite a few) folk would be flocking to have a few spares lying around, especially when you very rarely see them advertised.

Just shows how it sometimes never goes as you think it will.

Funnily enough they where fighting over the body shell and rear spoiler B)

I am sticking with Tamiya now and the only oddball in the RC garage is going to be the Master smacker. It's half decent and runs well on sand, saves me a fortune in repairs if I use it instead of the Hotshot II. That thing with a hopped up motor brings out the worst in my driving skills :)
