some more pictures, the truck is painted NATO green and black because it will be used to demonstrate loading and unloading the Leopard 2A6 at the public displays at the tank club that I belong to, the electronics in the tactor unit are only a tempory solution until the MF unit arrives, I have replaced the stock motor with a Novak 55 to slow the truck down after all it is a truck and not a F1 GP car

I like what you have done here.

I've also got a mini Scania project going. My one is an 8x8 with MFC.

I can't believe how much fun these 3-speed scale trucks are. Cars just don't do it for me.

This is great dude, I like the attention to detail. I love seeing what other people come up with for theme's. :)

Same here, only had one nearly a week and I'm hooked!

I want to fill the trucks rear tires with some weight to improve the traction and get the suspension to work properly, can someone recomend a site where I can get the materials from to fill the tyres

Hey BRELs that's a very nice build you have there - I like it a lot!

I think the problem with Tamiya tyres as far as traction is concerned is because they are so hard. I can't recall anyone filling the tyres with ballast or the like to add weight, but I'd consider alternative tyres if I were you or adding ballast to the truck rather than the tyres.

There is a site that does custom tyres .... http://www.customrcmodels.com/id306.htm, but I've never used them myself.

I would recommend these tyres - not sure where you can get them from though - they look fantastic and work much better....

I like what you have done with this truck..You did a great job on the weathering also looks great. I taken my stock tires and notch my tread with my band saw I also use the same led weight strips I use on my crawlers for weight I just wrap it around the rim.

If you look close you can see the cut marks going across ed the tread IMG_0310.jpg

thanks for the help guys

I have bought some 9mm steel catapault shot and have put about 30 in each of the inside tyres and none in the outside ones and increased the trucks weight by about half a kilo

with the dual drive axles if a wheel on the diagonal on oposite sides lift at the same time you have no drive because the wheels just spin, I will have to get some thicker grease for the diffs as well

I have fitted 8 Carson fulda crossforce tyres to the rear wheels on the Scania and the traction has improved across grass, going to try it on dirt some time in the week

I have modified the one piece solid ramp on the carson trailer to make it a split ramp type, I also cut off the legs that stuck out from the back of the ramp because I felt that they did not look right.

does anyone know where I can get a stronger bumper stay A (MF4) for my Scania R620, I ask this because every time I run the truck outside, I find that I have to take the cab and front fender/bumper off and straighten out the bumper stay, It is realy getting on my t*ts to do that after every run outside, I also broke the L/Hand side steps off but have glued them back on whilst I wait for a replacement set from HK

I have added another orange beacon to the roof of the Scania and moved the existing on to the front left and placed the new one on the opposite side at the front of the roof, then filled in the holes in the roof with car body filler

I have used lead line (found in fishing supplies), stick on tire weights, and BB's to add weight to my scale 4x4 RC trucks and would assume it would work just as well for these Big Rig's

if you read this topic properly you will find that I have filled the tyres with 9mm ball bearings (catapult ammunition) that I got from a hunting and fishing shop in Stafford, they take each set of tyres up to about a pound in weight and have improved the traction on the truck really well, I also glued the tyres onto the rims to stop them slipping because of the extra weight in them
