Anyway if you want to compare like to like, if the number of turns are equal, a 540 size motor will draw more current than a 380 sized motor. With that said, yes if you run the DOG SLOW high turn motors like the 17.5T you could get away with the 35A ESC in a AWD offroad car assuming you have it geared correctly.

I've been running the 35A ESC with the 9T motors in my AWD off-road cars for over a year with no problems whatsoever.

I'm sure there are many people running their 9T/35A in their AWD cars just fine, nobody claimed you couldn't...I'm just saying HW DESIGNED the 9T/35A combos to be used for ONROAD not OFFROAD. For offroad they recommend the 13T/35A combo. Whether you use it for your onroad or offroad is up to you. The point is it also really depends on the car, size of tires, gearing options, weight, terrain that dictates what ESC/motor would be SAFER to run. If your AWD vehicle is a rally car with small wheels/tires run on hard packed dirt then that combo would work fine, OTOH if you run a big AWD monster truck through mud and tall grass that combo probably wouldn't be ideal and may go into thermal shutdown. Some people just blindly use whatever motor/ESC they think works and don't have a clue about their motors overheating then one day POOF...bye bye...lol.

So you're now saying that they probably would work fine, rather than you "might get away with it"?

I've been running my EZ Runs (all 9T 35A)in a DF-03 Keen Hawk, a DF-03 Avante, an Avante 2001 and a TT-01 Integrale all on gravel or short grass. I've also got one in my LunchBox, which runs fine in long grass, mud and snow, and have used it in my CC-01 Pajero with no problems (other than it falling over all the time). I appreciate that the higher power motors are probably more suited to the trucks, but the 9T handles it just fine. With enough grip my VLB will do a standing backflip. My DF-03 (built to MS spec) will outrun a Greyhound on short grass, and has never overheated, despite the cramped nature of the DF-03 chassis, and being run at fell pelt for the entire duration of the 4000mah LiPo.

Have you ran your VLB nonstop on a LiPo pack on tall grass when the weather is over 100 degrees fahrenheit?

BTW you have a temperature gauge to measure motor temps? I'm curious what your motor temps are on your VLB after a nonstop 30 minute run on tall grass and 100 degree ambient temperature...

It very rarely gets over 100 here, if at all, but all last summer I was running 3-4 batteries back to back in in it with no issues. Helps that in the VLB you can mount the ESC nice and high, and the motor can sticks out quite a bit due to the mount.

The VLB is a very efficient gearbox. The MambaMax 5700Kv in my VLB barely even gets warm when I cain the heck out of it for hours (three IP4000 Li-Po packs back to back). 4600Kv in the Grasshopper (same gearbox) doesn't even get over ambient temp with the same abuse. I do get +40C days here during summer (now).

As was asked in the OP, 'what brushless for a TL01 touring car?'. For this purpose the 35A EZ-Run 9T will perform the task without issue and give the best bang for buck on the limited ratios of the chassis.

LOL

I have been racing Brushless and LiPo for the past 2 years and this thread confused me :)

Good Luck to the OP.

The issue is no one knows what other bashers basher places are like or indeed the set up of thier car - often the basher does not either :)

At a race even everyone is equal, same tyres, same motor wind/KV, same FDR give or take, same race surface and therfore there are lots of people to help you refine your motor / esc setup.

Yes, you change the ratio of the gearbox by swapping pinions or spur gears. Some models allow changing of pinion only, some you must change both pinion and spur for them to fit (SRB, Frog etc). Others, better suited to brushless, you can change both the pinion and spur for a wide range of ratios (TA0*, DF0*, DB01 etc).

Thanks Mark thats good to know as it is probably going to be a DF03 or a DB01 that i will be upgrading to brushless.

cheers guys i`ll go with the 9turn and 35 then. After thisdiscussion your all going to hate me but will a teu 101 handle a largher amount of turns? as in a crawler motor? its only if i change to less winds that i need a suitable esc am i correct?

Yes, but you don't want a 101 in a crawler. I used to have one in my CC-01 Pajero, and it was rubbish. Couldn't get it to go slow enough, the brakes were terrible, and reverse isn't as powerful as it should be.

cheers.it was actually to go in my scania,so not really a crawler just to slow it down a bit,and a bit more Grunt rater than speed

Not sure how heavy a Scania is. If it's pulling a lot of weight at low speed, not getting any airflow over it, it is likely to thermal if run for a long time I would say.
