I'm picking this chassis up tonight for parts.. It's only 5hours from now, but I'm really intrigued by the motor installed in it. I'm referring to the one in the motor slot, not the wired silver can. Any idea what it is? Thanks in advance! :)

That just made me more excited! It better be an 01R, coz the expectation just went up a notch. :)

The endbell is what got me intrigued. Funny I have an empty box for this motor at home, but I never paid attention on the details. Got it in a garage sale but it had a Dynatech 02H inside.

Thank you!

Agreed, definitely looks like an 01R endbell, even the can looks to be the right colour.

I have one in my king cab and I think it's performance is 'alright', but it might go well in the M chassis though (could be buying tyres twice instead of once a week :P ) Regardless, it's an extra deal sweetener B)

It was indeed an 01R! Still looks good and definitely a nice freebie. Though aside from the brush springs, it wasn't really as appealing like the 02H or the Technigold. To the motor case it went, probably will never be run for the rest of its existence.

Is the label in good condition? That's the best part of the 01R in my opinion. The 02H and technis do look better though.

It's quite an odd design - I've never seen another motor with the same brush springs - it was the reason I stopped running mine - one of the springs popped out when running in grass (yes, I know) and I never found it. Never found a replacement either...

Yes the label is still in good condition. But there's something missing in the endbell because the springs are loose. Maybe the brushes are worn out, I'm not sure. Do you have a copy of the manual? I can't find it online.

Did you see this?

The brushes themselves are easy to get hold of - it's the U shaped springs that tension them against the rotor that are the problem...

The springs have two positions - maybe they are just in the 'looser' position?

The best thing I can find in the way of a manual is page 24 of the Terra Conqueror (58115) manual...

If you go to the rehosted Tamiya Motor Specs site (lovely chap who rehosted this, I forget who it was, but cheers mate) here:

http://www.zaonce.com/stuff/motors/motors.htm

Go to the Dynatech 01R (or whatever motor your looking for), and click on the part number for it at the top, it will come up with box pictures and both sides of the instruction manual :)

(I had this site favourited for ages before I figured this was there haha :( )

Yup - it's basically the same info as the Terra Conqueror manual, but in English... (which is probably more useful)...

Make sure you click the number, not the picture...
