Maybe a stuypid question, but what is a good way of measuring speed of a car. I see sometimes advertisements of people stating that a TT01 is gonig 75 km/h, which I simply cannot believe. But I have this old Mercerdes Promarkt DTM on a hop-up TA02 and I'm just wondering what top speed is. So how can I measure it?

I have not a lot of space to test things so preferrably a way on a short piece of track.

Thanks Max

I am using a Garmin GPS simply zip-tied onto the car for most accurate measurements.. Also, you can use to fixed points on the road, draw a stripe, for instance, and have a helper time your drive from one line to the next. Knowing the exact distance between the lines, and the elapsed time used by the car to travel the distance, you should fairly easy be able to determine the exact speed of the car..

Cheers.

Remember that helpers are very rare on Ebay and tend to be well used![;)]

there is a forumla to measure the speed of you car . basically you take a distance , drive it , time it and then multiply the time , distance by ???? = speed .

what is it though ? i saw it on a rc car action site I think

I too use a Bushnell Speedster. K-band radar accuracy is spot on!!

Speed = Distance/time

So, you divide the fixed distance by the time it took to cover it to get a speed measurement. The longer the distance the better becuase you can get a more accurate result.

I ve got a bushnell speed gun and a venom and they are both reasonably accurate and were quite cheap on ebay.my tb02 with mods 11x2 and a 7.2 2400 pack and no down force will do about 32 miles an hour and thats really moving!! 1/8 nitro buggys mbx etc are hitting 45 mph and the quickest were the competition serpent 1/8 on roaders hitting nearly 70mph on the straight away at our local track (WOW!) tto1 75kph nah I dont think so unless it had a 21 novarossi running 25% nitro in it lol

32kmh, I would have thought a car with a 15* in it would go much much faster?

I used to use the timed speed trap run. We'd set up two lines about 20m apart, and do several runs through the trap and take the average time.

My Frog with Technigold and 19T/49T gearing managed 34kph.

HI XanderP,

Well that is why I wanted to measure. I think we 'over wish' our speeds a bit. On the other hand it is a very old worn out motor which I got from the bay with the merc, so probably with a new motor the car will go faster. Hence I still think TT01 stock chassis will not go faster then say between 20-25km/h without a good hop-up set.
