Am I going to beat a NIB Buggy Champ (2009) shipped to my door (US) for $290?

Thanks

John

Well, these days that would be a hard price to beat. Anyway, I personally believe that once the Sand Scorcher reissue hit the streets some of the people that bought two or more Buggy Champ kits will want to sell their extras to fund the purchase of the Scorcher. But then again, right to this minute, I think it is a very good price.

Have a great Friday!

Tower have them for $319 http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti00...LXXPW7&P=ML

Shipping looks to be $10 http://www.towerhobbies.com/ordering.html#phi

Discount code 016D8 will save you $20 if that's any help?

If you join the Tower Savers Club ($9.99) you get free shipping on orders over $150 for a year :)

Might also be worth asking around for more discount codes - they usually do a few different breaks although it's normally around 10% so $290 doesn't look hopeful from Tower

So I did it! I bought a buggy champ yesterday! Who hoo, I have been sitting on the fence about buying once since they were re-released. I didn't get into RC cars until about 86 so the buggy champ was not a car that I was interested in or saw growing up so I was not sure if I wanted to drop the 300 (us) on it or not. In my eyes I could pick up another grasshopper, hornet and lunchbox for the price of one buggy champ... But it is pretty cool looking and I feel like the RC10’s and JRX’s looks were based off of it and has some pretty significant historical meaning. I noticed like some others about a month or two ago that Tamiyausa had the buggy champ listed as discontinued... which got me thinking I should make my mind up and decide before it’s too late. On Monday night I woke up in the middle of the night and for some reason the buggy champ was on my mind and I couldn’t go back to sleep, so I said, that's it I'm buying one tomorrow and putting this to rest. I noticed that Tower had dropped the price from 319.99 to 309.99 and I had a coupon and free shipping, so why not? When I check the next day tower had it listed as "currently unavailable” I figured oh man I missed getting it at a good price, since it's now discontented and tower is all out of stock! So later in the day I logged onto towers web site to have them email when (or if) it became available again, and it said in stock limited quantity! So I ordered it and now it's showing again as temporarily unavailable. Looks like I might have lucked out (maybe they will do another run) and couldn’t be happier about adding another car to my collection that I have never seen run or even built in person!

So now I have to find myself some original or repro decals of the alternate ISS/Funco style.

Cool! Yea, you got to watch the pricing on them, especially if you ever get them off eBay. Some of the deals look great, until you notice shipping is $100+ I really hate it when people do that!

the buggy champ is a great car to build.

here's mine:

Nicely done. I thought I was in the minority for painting the shell french blue. All of my cars are red with the exception of my subaru DF03 ra shells and I thought it would be nice to do something different. Funny thing is, I knew the car was also painted in blue and when I was at the hobby shop selecting my paints i picked the french blue because I thought it would look cool, not knowing that it was the exact color code called for on the alternate paint scheme. I also like how you pained the roller bars silver instead of the called for flat black. One thing I failed to do was paint the inside of the shell. I didn't think it would show. now seeing yours, it obviously does. I'm going to have to paint it by hand now unfortunately, as a spray will surely run to the outside.

I ended up getting mine for $275, although I did have to drive a ways to get it. In the end I think it was worth it. I considered briefly not building and buying another, but then we had to move x-country and money was eaten up by expenses.
