So you are in UK. I'm in Norway :-)

Basically, the Tamiya Spray cans are not for sale in the UK at the moment, and have not been for some time, due to some labeling issues.

Search this Forum, and you will find several topcis regarding this. Ordering from abroad seems to be the only option now.

Anyone UK based ever cross referenced the Tamiya colour shades to the car colours available in Halfords which seem an ideal and more economical alternative to the TS paints for hardbodies?

never cross referenced them.i just normally pick a colour thats a variation of the box art, like pumpkin done in ford panther black pearlescent

I had a quick look on e bay and you can get Tamiya paint on there from £3.95 + £1.95 For a 100ml tin.

If you cant find the colour you want on there it might be worth sending the seller a message to see if he has it in stock or even get it for you.

Sorry for the slight thread hi-jack, but I've got a question about another Tamiya Spray, PS-55, flat clear...

Does anyone know where I can get hold of this in the UK? It seems odd that I can't seem to buy it from any of the main mail order places we usually use... and I don't really want to spend 3 weeks waiting for a ship delivery from abroad!

Cheers,

Tim.

TS series sprays are not availble in the UK. Most other Tamiya paints are - simple really. If you want TS paint then you'll have to order from overseas or go to Halfords and get a similar colour.

I've just got back from my local Modelzone, and they have a few of the Humbrol Acrylic paints in stock - apparently these are suitable for Polycarbonate as it says on the can, and they are being advertised as such all over the web too...

Has anyone tried these out? Do they really etch as well as Tamiya PS paint on Polycarbonate? I find it surprising that they can be used on pretty much any surface...

The colours are quite a good range, and they have both satin and matt clear too.

The Humbrol cans are no good on polycarbonate that's actually run - they flake off on impact. OK for the odd shelf queen but that's it.

They're OK for painting *solid* polycarbonate moldings but are no good for the thin poly used for Tamiya bodies.

They are tolerable for the Tamiya hard bodies, but you get a better finish with Halfords...

For info, Hornby's Rep came round the other day (Humbrol=Hornby now) and was saying how he's been selling bucketloads of their paint since the Tamiya stuff went off sale (which aparantly was more to do with the content not meeting EC regulations, but no other country other than the UK ever tends to enforce this) and didn't realise that the moment Tamiya actually get their act together and get the paint back on sale here, that his range will plummet!

ETA is supposedly April for 8 colours and the rest around June, but we've been given so many dates it's possible this isn't right. The delay ISN'T down to the UK importer, it was aparantly due to Tamiya in Japan not supplying the correct COSHH formula sheets for UK/EC importation green lights.

I`m a bit baffled, going off what you have said are the ts paints still available in the rest of europe or have tamiya pulled all european stock?

Thanks Shopkeeper, I thought as much - the Humbrol sounded too good to be true! Glad I didn't believe the guy in Modelzone - nice chap though. Don't suppose you have PS-55? I couldn't see it in your shop, is it available in the UK?
