Hello all,

Have heard of the Kidderminster meet/bash every now and then on TC, would like to come to this years bash if it's happening. If anyones got any info at all, that would be great, as from the video clips I've seen it seems like it's a lot of fun.

Doubt there'll be a Tamiyaclub Kidderminster meet any more, there were issues regarding all attendees having to be BRCA members, which was an unnecessary expense for a lot of people, and there was also problems with the toilet blocks and drainage, which made a 3 day stopover a slightly unappealling prospect.

Not sure if the situation has changed any, but that was the problem last year.

At the risk of being hammered again for even merely suggesting this, has anyone "in charge" of TC actually contacted Kidderminster club management this year (who knows, things might have changed?) and asked whether we can use the track for a main TC meet and whether BRCA insurance is a mandatory requirement and about the toilet situation and whether there is a date that TC might be able to book and about any fee etc.?

I have no desire to know the details (or else I will be accused of trying to take over the running of TC as happened last time <_< ) I just would like to know that the above has *definitely* happened.

At least then we the punters would know for sure one way or the other of either no chance or maybe...

Nothing has happened, feel free to make enquiries.

There would be if only we had a Kidderminster again !

C'mon Netsmith !

Jerome

WOW I would love that. The sticking points are the BRCA insurance that Twinset said that Kidderminster "management" had insisted on last time (so every member would need to spend 15 quid, I am willing, others are not) and the toilet problems apparently.

I had one of the best times of my life at Kidderminster in 2007 at the TC Spring meet. If there was a way of going there again for a TC meet I would be the first one to sign up to it LOL.

Twinset (Andy) did say that I was welcome to contact Kidd. and find out the score there, so I think I will.

Just hope that Chris and the moderators can make it possible if Kidd. agrees. Can't wait to go! Snetterton is too flat and Tarmaccy and therefore a little boring for my personal tastes! I really need an OFF ROAD track to be happy (mixed surfaces or even just all grass, even marked out with a hosepipe would do me. Must have a track though for FUN races. I get bored when just 'bashing'.

I fully intend to run my Buggy Champ at the Retro Racer buggy class at Hinckley when it starts again in the summer. Motors are limited to silver can so essentially stock.

It'll get thrashed by the Frogs, Hotshots and the Hornets but I don't care, I still want to run it so that I can tell the grandkids I use to race an SRB.

Retro Racers pics

That's the spirit mate, that's what we did at Kidderminster! The fun was in the running and the going around the track, the competiveness was OPTIONAL but it's mere presence made it very satisfying!

LOL

If Kidd happens it will be because you organise it chap - I certainly don't have the time to organise an event and I'm not sure Chris does either, the only other (currently UK based) mod is Terry - you could ask him nicely - If you're not prepared to organise an event there, it probably won't happen.

The suggestion to contact them was so you could organise an event yourself

Oh right. Sorry. My misunderstanding.

I think I'll ask Chris first then and see how he feels about organising it?

God help you all if I organise it  Then it'd be silvercans only, no modern styled buggies allowed (within reason!)...LOL.

And I would even allow Kyosho and other makes to be there!

I will try and clear things up for you LSM, Netsmith and Twinset cant organise it, Kidderminster require all people who attend to have BRCA insurance. As I understand it fella if you want an event there then you need to phone the track owners and you need toorganise the event. IF you manage it Im sure people will come, if they have insurance of course.

I really don't understand how me posting that you need to organise this yourself is misread and your conclusion is;

For two years now, the advice has been the same - if you want a meet at Kidderminster, organise it.

Is that any clearer?

Other people here manage to organise very successful events themselves, not keep banging on about someone else doing it for them.

With respect, you said that you didn't actually know Chris' current position on this, if I understand it correctly. If he has said that he definitely does not want to organise anything, so be it.

Either way I'll see what he thinks.

Also, with respect Rich, how do you know for sure what Kidderminster 'management's' view on this is? Have you actually asked them about it yet?

Ok, lets turn it around for a second - Exactly why does anyone from TC have to organise it for you and, more importantly, what is to stop you doing it?

I didn't say I didn't know Chris's current position, I said I believe he is too busy - here is me saying it (in writing)

I certainly don't have the time to organise an event and I'm not sure Chris does either

If you want to get bogged down in semantics, fine, but you still won't be having a meet at Kidderminster.

As for "Kidderminster 'management's' view on this is" - Who is Kidderminster 'management'?

With Respect Alastair I know because I was told when the last attempt was made to have a meeting there. I also race at various events and know that many tracks require users to have insurance due to the likelyhood of claims should an injury/damage occur. Add to that you have posted and been told this information.

OK guys I have found out something more concrete.

The two guys that run the Kidderminster track are Tony Meredith (whom I just spoke to) and Paul Worsley . Tony says that all TC members would most definitely require everyone who attends their Kidderminster track these days to have BRCA insurance cover (which is currently 15 GBP I believe), but if that is met then we are welcome to organise something and have everyone come along and have a 2 day weekend meeting on any Bank Holiday weekend (Tony tells me there are only 2 main events held on that track in the year and they would have to let nothing interfere with those).

The toilet facilities ARE NOT AN ISSUE (I asked) there is no problem there.

Tony's e-mail is tonymeredith@sky.com

Paul's e-mail is paul.worsley@virgin.net . Paul is on the board at BRCA.

the telephone number above of 01562 630690 is Tony's number that I 'phoned.

Organising any of this stuff at present is beyond me personally, but at least we now have the facts.

Best Regards,

Alistair G.

You are quite correct Rich, I just obtained this from the management at Kidd. tonight on the 'phone.

So for me it's a non issue as I am willing to pay up the 15 quid for the event, but I accept that there are some here that can't or won't pay it. So be it. And it won't be me organising it, but I would like Chris to, but that's just me personally.

Alistair - The whole BRCA charge thing is still there, when is it going to sink in that Chris is not interested in organising a meet where all attendees have to join a club/organisation they've never seen the need for before?

The whole reason Chris doesn't organise a meet at Kidd is the BRCA membership - That has always been one of the reasons.

As I said before, if someone wants a meet at Kidderminster, feel free to organise it, Chris has never wanted to organise meets that exclude anyone on financial grounds

I don't know how many times you need telling, but I think it'll be more than this somehow.

To those that do understand simple explanations, please feel free to organise a meet at Kidderminster!

What personal attack?

Alastair, you have been told many times over last year or two that Kidderminster is a no go now, due to insurance issues. Also that Chris and Andy are unable to organise it (im sure you will find out Andy knows Chris and knows that he cant do it... not sure you are aware but Tamiya Club is something Chris does as a sideline/hobby in his spare time.. He too has a full time job that keeps him busy), yet you drag on and on and expect people not to get frustrated.

Its quite simple IF YOU WANT A MEET THEN YOU NEED TO ORGANISE A MEET!

Move on chap, flog another horse for a while.

Whatever happened to NO PERSONAL ATTACKS?!

Nice moderation. Good job.

:D

ARG

It's not a personal attack, it's me trying to explain to you that it's not going to happen, time after time, and yet you still end up with "And it won't be me organising it, but I would like Chris to"

How, after a whole page of being told it won't happen, do you still think there's a chance? seriously, how?
