Cheers biggus but I think 12 cars should be enough. But by the sound of things you should bring loads of lunchbox spares.

SRB Bloke, sad to hear that chap get well soon.

Not long now, all cars have been repaired(or bodged) and checked, batteries and transmitters charged, spares and tools packed, just about ready now just waiting on results from Volvos MOT today (£200 bill so far  ). Thought I would have a check and count up of cars - 48 in running order and will bring 9 to pad up the conga if needed. As Dazza listed his I thought I would list Ericas and mine too... a few more than expected and guess wont be running em all but may as well drag em all down.

Just a few days to go now, so it must be time for … another essay! :D

Help Wanted

The rest of the “organising” “committee” – I use those terms very loosely – apparently all have last minute work commitments that mean they may not be able to attend the event ;)

Without whining too much, this potentially leaves me carrying way more of the can than I want to, or am fit for …

What this adds up to is that I will need some help on the Monday – the main thing that comes to mind is timekeeping/tannoy announcements for 5 & 10 minute warnings/horn blowing for end of events.

This could be the one person, or we could split it up. The only thing I can really offer you in exchange. is an “upgrade” on your ID badge, so you get a lanyard that says “staff” on it, rather than being plain. What else do you want, the moon on a stick? ;)

Hose Wanted

We still need a sacrificial hose pipe for the “Musical Garages” event.

I’ve already forked out for the trophies, ID badges, ballcocks, and post-it notes to stick on the RadshapeRC prizes, and frankly, this event isn’t my baby & I don’t care whether it goes ahead or not :P

Rules

Lunchkin Footy

The Marshals got a bit of a hard time last year (I admit, mostly from me, due to the RX not working that well over half of the track), so this year, after kick off, the marshals should retire to a safe distance.

Any Lunchkin falling over or getting tangled up will have to stay there until it can be righted after a goal or at change of ends.

Contact

Just to reiterate – all the events are NON-CONTACT, apart from the Sumo on Sunday night, and the the 19T limited touring car “race” on Monday, where a certain amount of leaning on is encouraged, I mean expected.

For that event, if you really don’t want to get involved in any argy-bargy, I suggest yon put a big X in tape on your roof.

For all the other events, I suggest standing close enough to TWINSET to slap him if he gets out of line ;)

Prizes

I’ve also allocated the rest of the RadeshapeRC.com prizes, the full list, and what they’ll be awarded for is:

Hill Climb (Sunday)

1st place: Grasshopper/Hornet/Wild One/Frog Bumper Skid Plate Natural Anodise

2nd place: Hotshot Stabilizer Stays - Natural Anodise

3rd place: DF03 Skid Plate - Polished Finish

Most Pathetic Effort: TT01 Top Deck - Anodised Blue

Lunchkin Sumo (Sunday)

1st place: SRB Bumper Skid Plate - Black Anodise

2nd place: Grasshopper/Hornet/Wild One/Frog Bumper Skid Plate Natural Anodise

3rd place: Hotshot Stabilizer Stays - Natural Anodise

Best Presented Vehicle (Monday)

1st place: SRB Chassis - Black Anodise

2nd place: Boomerang Rear Shock Tower - Black Anodise

3rd place: Hotshot Bumper Skid Plate - Black Anodise

Worst Presented Vehicle (Monday)

1st place - Boomerang/Hotshot Dual Front Shock Conversion Kit - Black Anodise

2nd place - Boomerang Bumper Skid Plate - Black Anodise

3rd place - Hotshot Bumper Skid Plate - Natural Anodise

Musical Garages (Monday)

1st place: TT01 Top Deck - Anodised Blue

2nd place: SRB Bumper Skid Plate - Natural Anodise

3rd place: DF03 Skid Plate - Polished Finish

In the event this doesn’t go ahead, the prizes will be allocated to other categories … I don’t know, something like “stupidest hat”, “most toys” and “best presented dog”

I nominate my wife to help out. I will go and wake her up now an tell her (its 7am and i dont think she would be impressed with that). Only joking I will politely ask her later but it should not be a problem.

Will get back after 1pm today.

I cant help out with the hose pipe, I do have one but its rather new.

Unfortunately I am not sure what my attendance is likely to be - I am going to Blackpool this weekend to visit Mrs Skips family - hopefully I will be back in time to pop along though ;)

Thanks Daz ;) And Mrs Daz.

If you have any trouble selling the idea, the weather forecast is not looking too good, so "race control" will probably be the warmest & driest place on the track ;)

Posted

sheesh fella never heard about positive thinking? Weathers should be fine, weather forecasters always tell you the worst its going to be and not what it actually will be. ;)

Last year there was a burger van, will there be one this year?

Posted
The burger vans were all part of the market weren't they?

Yes, and it's quite a trek - the nearest one is all the way across the track, across the bit of grass to the east, and out past the dunnies ... must be all of 50 metres :)

Anyone bringing anything to BBQ Sunday night? I have 4 lbs of ribs marinading atm - I probably could eat that all myself, but I'm quite willing to trade some ... maybe even for vegetables or _gasp_ salad of some description :)

Just in case anyone cares about the recipe, it's dark soy sauce, worcester sauce, honey, muscavado sugar, chinese 5 spice, and ginger. The "secret" incredient is that the meat isn't ribs at all - it's pork belly slices.

Felt like a long way last time, but I think that was down to the headache.

If anyone sees a donut van, come find me :)

Well, that was an eventful, umm, event :)

Highlights for me were the atrocious weather when I got there (horizontal rain at 90 degree angle & firehouse pressure, hail, thunder, lightning, and very high winds), my tent getting blown flat, getting a millimeter perfect 3 meter long drift at full throttle (5.5 turn brushless) out of many hundreds of attempts (even if everyone else was still asleep at the time) and of course having a laugh with some great people - the lunchkin sumo and lunchkin drag racing was brilliant - even though I sucked massively at both events.

Apologies for not doing the sort of job or organising that I'd hoped, and for sloping off early, but as I explained to a few people in "Too Much Information" mode, I was quite out of it, & in quite a bit of pain, not to mention having and had a very poor and short night's sleep.

Also apologies to Ian for nearly giving him a heart attack by moving his brilliant FAV.

Congrats to Tinman (I think?) for winning both the "best" and "worst" presented vehicle categories with a superb 70's rally Escort and a great looking Mad Max style Scorcher, and to Blaque Jacque for getting 2nd in both categories, with his Mini Lunchkin & a blue Porsche. Thanks for everyone that voted for my ORV Bowler Wildcat (getting me 3rd place - it was a free & democratic voting process, ok?) ... I forgot who won the 3rd "worst" - sorry!

I have to admit I took no photos whatsoever, hopefully lots of other people did.

Thanks again to RadshapeRC.com for the prizes - I definitely heard a couple of people saying they were going to have to buy the appropriate Tamiya car to use them :D

Finally, thanks to everyone that came, especially those hardly souls who camped out overnight, I'm sorry that I didn't get to talk to everyone.

:(

ps did anyone pick up the jiffy bag of Radshape bits intended for the "Musical Garages" event? I didn't give them out & I don't seem to have brought them home with me either

I do apologise for not turning up to this, I really wanted to come and was leaving it till last minute to decide,

Didn't fancy a wet muddy dog in my tent and I don't think you would appreciate her jumping all over you lot.

The weather was great this time last year :( , hopefully I shall get to a meet soon.

Sorry folks, hope to see you all soon.

HI john it was nice to meet you and all the others that turned up. It was nice to put some faces to names ect.

The weather as you said was not fantastic at first but it did brighten up today and the track dried quickly, which made way for some great bashing/breaking ect.

I think 4 cars of mine where broken over the weekend including 2 brushless systems my daughters ff01 evo and I cant remember the other. But it was well worth the 4 hour journey.

Oh it was chloe my daughter who won turd prize with her evo which she managed to destroy in a 24hour period. It went from being a fantastic looking evo to a beaten up body with no rear spoiler mashed up front bumper and rips and tears all over it.

Does anyone want to buy an evo shell one careful lady owner ???

Anyway thanks again for the great weekend.

Dazza and family

Just want to say a big thanks to everyone who managed to get down today and yesterday (and even some the day before!) to make this a great event that it was, despite the rain and wind.

Special thanks have to go out to Jonny Retro and also Radshape for the excellent prizes. Can't believe I got best AND worst cars! I asked my missus if I could display the trophies before I showed her the Golden Turd trophy... :(

My only regret is lack of preparation time led to me spending half the day in the pit cabin when I really wanted to be out there driving. Lesson for next time.

Still well worth the 4 hour journey down. Maybe a late Spring rerun would be a good idea??

Anyway, top day cheers.

Tynhead.

Had a great time, as usual got plenty of cars requiring a little attention. Thanks to everyone involved in putting the event together, it certainly had its moments, the impromptu Wild Willy/Lunchbox drag racing for a start.

Does anyone know the name of the guy in the Audi who turned with stuff to buy, I meant to buy something and forgot and would like to get in touch. If it was you sorry please drop me a pm.

We had a great day once the weather improved. Nice meeting up with you all again and also the guys we had met at Wings'N'Wheels who dropped in. Pity the bad weather had kept some people away and meant the the day didn't go quite as planned by the organisers. who as usual had worked hard to make it a really fun day.

This was the 2nd snetterton meeting ive been to and yep the weather was awful again, but the fun was still there-big thanks must go to jonny retro for running the meeting even if the wind and rain was doing its very best to ruin the whole thing.

i came 2nd in both events on sunday night even though my lunchbox had the duffest of the duff speedcontrols, casultys of my fleet include drowned receiver in my mo3 pug106,motor problems in my ta02 lancer and massive range problems in my ta05r and just to add to my woes my sc10 overheated the speedo and motor causing it to cut out.
