That is cool, but I kinda like the positive camber and camber changes on the rear of the SRB. Gives it character.

That mod makes sense with the square rear tires on the Rough Rider/Buggy Champ as it improves tire contact, but with the curved tires on the Sand Scorcher, it doesn't make much difference.

Well, the rear suspension isn't really realistic, right? Neither the RC channel version or the original version from Tamiya. I like the one from RC Channel because I don't really like the odd camber angles either, and (especially on those flat/square treaded tires) the suspension makes unneccesary sideways friction on the tires when it's compressed or decrompressed. This in theory would make 1. a less consistent suspension travel and/or 2. increased tire wear.

I still think though that the trail arm suspension hopups for the rear look best on this car <_< It's the most realistic option as well I think?

Well, this is true. You'd need a trailing swing arm kit to make it like a real bug, like the MIP trailing arm kit. But that's the point, neither is realistic if your quest is for realism.

I agree, a double jointed halfshaft and training arms would be the best, but you gotta hand it to RC Channel for making an inconspicuous part that looks like it is "factory".

I must agree with this too. I'd rather see a scale VW rear swingarm suspension to control the odd cambers.

Strength of that rear upright looks questionable. They are only driving them around very gently.

Dunno about that....might be of some benefit with the padlatraks too.

How many second hand scorcher tyres have you seen where only the outside is bald? I've seen plenty.

x2 for me James

This is a pretty cool idea, I like the stuff RC Channel makes, but not an option I would go for.

The crazy camber antics of the old SRB cars had always put me off owning one. However, over the years of looking at TC, friends cars, videos, etc I have grown to love that about them. It has become a defining characteristic that just sucks me in every time.

Thanks to Mr T and his re-re's now I can actually own one , insane camber angles and all :P

Please don't think I am a purist or that I am trying to convince anyone not to buy this type of upgrade, just thought I would share my hate-to-love of the SRB suspension.

I like the original swing axle of the SRB cars - but I'n not afraid of a little change, looks like the rear stubaxles and driveshafts maybe Frog based

On a seperate note I'd like to point out that I've been waiting for an order from Paul Humpf (RC Channel) for over 3 months now - If you need any of their items in quantity, I'd look elsewhere  shame because its top stuff

I'm after some of his fantastic 3mm rod ends - we arranged a price for quantity and then he was waiting for more to be made....there must have been 30 emails backwards and forwards....next week....next week....next week

So I went to Mike at RC4WD and got them in 4 days

A little while back I bought 4 of each of the rod ends that RC4WD makes and found them to be HUGE. Much larger than the plastic parts I was planning on replacing. Not really what I was looking for unless I was making a large truck/crawler (which obviously is what RC4WD caters to). Not sure if the RC Channel ones have smaller dimensions more suitable for a 1/10 buggy.

With the kit installed, wouldn't the curved padla traks then just wear in the center contact patch instead of the outer edge contact patch? I guess you could re-use some of the padla traks with worn outer edges after installing the kit though! ;)

But let's be honest - cutting edge handling isn't really what the SRBs are all about. It's a cool mod though, very nice how it matches the rest of the metal parts on the car.

The padla tracks and Super Champ style pin spike tires wear really quickly on roads or concrete either way...

I see i think have those on the pajero/cc01 metal axle kit i have from him, that explains why i have not had a reply to my email yet either! doh!

i might just need to make some of my own rods now as stock ones are causing my axle not to fall equally each side! and i dont know still if i need to fill my

axle or it is already filled lol!

I decided to pop for these and I have to say I am VERY impressed with how much it changed the way my SRB handled. I found myself able to go full speed and turn quickly on asphalt and it turned beautifully. On dirt it was even better car goes straight with full throttle and is controllable where as before it would spin out. I also drove it on rough terrain and it took whatever I through its way.. worthwhile upgrade if you plan on running your SRB

Nice. Are you running a diff as well, or still the stock spool?

I'm running RA1028's ball diff  with Novak Havoc 2s esc and tamiya black can. Battery is a LiPo 2200 mah from Hobby King. I'd like to find a 3000 mah LiPo that fits without mod, so I can get longer run times.. The weight of the SRB makes it thirsty for batts lol.
