Power Surge 0 Posted February 11, 2010 Does anyone know if its possible to run wheels on a Hotshot that use 12mm hexes. Are there hex adapters out there anywhere? Yep, all over ebay. I have the genuine Tamiya ones, stay away from the cheapos like 3 racing, the bolts strip.

For fear of sounding dumb, do you have the part number/official name please? Have just come across these HERE
Power Surge 0 Posted February 11, 2010 Thanks for the quick reply. For fear of sounding dumb, do you have the part number/official name please? Have just come across these HERE You can use those, but I suggest the "clamp on" type. The ones I used were actually Yeah Racin brand. Part number WA-017BU. Some of the Yeah Racing stuff is crappy, but I've had good luck with their wheel adapters.
94eg! 834 Posted February 11, 2010 The ones you linked will NOT work. They have a weird snout on the front that will interfere with the wheel. No idea what they are actually for. The best/easiest option is Tamiya 53056 Pin Type Wheel Adapter Set. They don't clamp on, but they are a perfect fit...
mix237 0 Posted February 11, 2010 Yup, they will work. I used stock plastic hex hubs i took from my CC01 and they fit just fine on my bigwig. I used DF03 rims and tires too.
PaPeRo 30 Posted February 11, 2010 I got a set of these. They're for HPI Sprint 2 but work with Tamiyas too. http://www.eracingpro.com/index.php/hpi-ra...lue-/p_886.html $10 with FREE shipping. No clamps and made of solid aluminum so are stronger lighter than the Tamiya cast ones. These are a drop in fit for cars that uses standard 12mm axle hexes. bjr250 23 Posted February 11, 2010 I went with the 6mm hex that Tamiya recommend, Keen Hawk wheels and C compound tyres: OP. 569 (53569) Clamp Type Aluminum Wheel Hub - 6mm OP. 880 (53880) Large Dish Wheels (4WD/Front, 62/25) OP. 881 (53881) Large Dish Wheels (Rear, 62/35) OP. 878 (53878) High Density Spike Tyres C (4WD/Front, 62/25) OP. 879 (53879) High Density Spike Tyres C (Rear, 62/35)

Tamiya Dual Block Tires Type K (kit) 54185 & 54186, and Type C (competition) 54187 & 54188. Ther is also the original High Density Type K tires 51240 and 51241 that come with the DF03 and DB01 kits. These are probably the hardest and longest lasting of all of them, but they don't provide a lot of grip. Worked well for me on the local 1/8th track and the street... Also have a look at the proline tires as they perform much much better in their specified environment...
