Well, i've been a member of this club now for about 3 yrs and i like to think of myself as one of the 'old boys" and as some of you may know by now i've decided to sell up and say farewell to Tamiyas and Tamiya Club. A few people have asked me why? and i've gave them all different reasons i guess that's because there just wasn't 1 reason. Bottom line is i guess it's just time to move on.

Anyway i just wanted to say a big thank you to Chris For founding the club and the other 'back room" boys without which most of us would be alone and feeling rather dirty over our own perverted addiction [;)] but instead with the help of this site where altogether. Lastly i'd like to give another big thank you to all the great members that i've met and talked to and become friends with over the years. These people (you know who you are) make Tamiya Club what it is and that's great.

I won't be leaving straight away i'll need to be weaned off slowly and i'll be posting my items in my trade room.

So a big Thank You and farewell [^]

Lee:

Thanks for contributing over the years.

I'm sure I have dealt with you, but I'm not certain, but if not, I'm sure it would have been great.

Contributors like you really do make this club move along.

Bye for now,

Sam

P.S. Bet you'll still keep 1 RC for those down times [;)]

Cheers

"You can take the man away from the Tamiya but you can't take the Tamiya away from the man"

Dont worry you'll be back, You'll probably walk past your LHS see and see a sand scorcher Re-release in the window and just out of curiousity you will purchase it, and the whole cycle starts again[;)]

Till then.

yep.

Won't ever lose that bug until they carry you out in a box.

(a Mountaineer kitbox would be nice, lotsa space...[:P])

I guess you dont know me, we exchanged a couple of emails when i traded my Lola parts a while ago, but i understood that you were one of the "first" here on TC.

I can just say good luck in the future, and if i were you, i´d save just ONE car...just in case...

Mate - you were our 403rd member (ALOT joined in the first month of this club) - and have been a great contributor with both passion and even better a sense of humour. Thankyou for your contributions.

Just dont sell that mighty CONRAD motor mate - then you know you will be gone forever![:(][:D]

All the best mate

Sorry to see you go Lee. Are you just getting out of the Tamiya / Vintage scene or out of r/c altogether...? Don't think that Ford RS's are a cheaper substitute - they are just as addictive...!!!

Great angle mate, might try the same on my wife. "I have enough and it time to move on" Then shift loads of kits, six months later tell her its making you real sad, then hit ebay and buy twice as many models ;) See you in next June.

BTW little known fact but I'm pretty sure Lee was the one that kicked off the idea of the first ever tamiyaclub meet up at clumber.

Remember that cold foggy day, were slowly cars start pulling up with people looking slightly shifty and nervous? Then they just kept arriving, the weather held off and it turned into one of the best meets I think we've ever had.

"shifty?!" Myself and uKstyle maybe!? I remember that day well and i agree with Chris. Great day. Everybody introducing themselves with their TC names. It was fun and most amusing. Ill never forget the amount of cars that Jason (Wldnes) bought, mostly very obscure!

There is no escape from Tamiya, god knows ive tried, but there is always the little spark that starts you off again.

I agree with MadMat 100%. I have been on and off with this Hobby for over 25 years now and theres always something to spark that old habit/hobby. Whether it's passing up a hobby shop with a re-issue in the window or seeing a neighborhood kid driving an r/c vehicle. Somehow you always wind up coming back for more. Tamiya owns our hearts from childhood 'til death. Theres no turning back! Good luck Anyway.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

Well, like i said before there are a few reasons why i'm hanging the gloves up. The main reason is i need the cash as i'm hopeing to go into business the second main reason is that i just don't feel the same way about the hobby anymore, i feel that Tamiya has gone profit mad and sensed that there is a quick buck to be made from the endless re-releases and because of this i feel that the Tamiya scene from my point of view has changed and will never be the same again.

I remember the first meet. Cold, gray, wet but loads of fun.

Loads of good memories.

Thank you.
