There seems to be alot more love for the Lunchbox rather than the Midnight Pumpkin? Obviously they are the same chassis but when ever I see someone reccomend a car its always the Lunchbox.

So is it just people prefer the looks of the LB? or is there something deeper I am missing? B)

Well speaking for myself I saw both in Beaties when I was a kid and instantly wanted the LB and fell in love with it! It just looked more fun on the box! lol :D

I got a Midnight with a deal for a Clod, Like it but bodymounts stink and they are rareish....

When I bought my Lunchie it was 10 quid cheaper than the MP.

Another question along a similar vein.. we always see lots of Monster Beetles, Blackfoots and Subaru Brats, but rarely a Mud Blaster.

Nah, there's no deep meaning. I think it's just because the Lunchy is available more cheaply than the Pumpkin. Plus the Pumpkin is only seemingly available in chrome editon which looks crud.

the pumpkin is one ugly looking truck.

but if you are not sure which one to get, it's best to get both. works for me!

I had a QD pumpkin in the early 80's and fell in love with that model from then. I bough a reissue pumpkin in 2005 and built it up with my 80's acoms gear, you know the chrome transmitter etc lol, for that retro look. I spent ages painting the body and it was lush. Never ran it and sold it to someone off here in 06 for well under what I should have but needs must at the time.

The lunchbox just doesn't do it for me. However from a design perspective it is probably a better runner and more resiliant to knocks and rolls. I would buy a chrome pumpkin but you could never run it for risk of rolling damage.

Clearly the answer is 42.

I concur

I like the pumpkin better. God knows why ??? I just do. Saying that, I have both, Well you have to don't you ? Best bet though 1 chassie, 2 shells or is it the other way round ?? ;)

worked for me as well. The toxic handling twins are quite happily sitting sde by side on my shelf as i type.

The body mounts are quite crud on the pumpkin but they arent that rare

The chrome edition is nice as a shelfer but once scratched is knackered and you are stuck with the factory colour scheme(says me who did his non chrome edition box art black anyway!!!)

yes i had the chrome one in my avatar, must get that cahnged now though, perhaps a nice family portrait lunchbox, pumpkin and their grandaddy clod

i must stress that ugly does not mean bad!

i mean, it's not striker ugly, but IMO the lunchbox looks nicer. so if you were gonna buy just one . . .

plus the lunchy shell is the same as the a team van ;)

and the a team is good!! except that new a team movie, with some other guys in it. sacrilege.

I always thought it was the big, yellow van body on top of giant tires... It's different, attractive and fun looking. I think it's that van body alone that sells more lunch boxes more than pumpkins.

It just looks bigger and more impressive than a typical pick-up truck

The A team van was a chevy.

I reckon it's down to 'ugly sibling' syndrome - Tamya has a great habit of one good looker per chassis, and one minger

Ford Ranger

Bruiser

Pumpkin

Bullhead

Mammoth Dump Truck

Bush Devil

All munters ;)

Wow this one really took off, I must admit I have always liked the Lunchbox, I think it must be the different van looks ;)

So as a slight drift, what would be more fun as a basher, a lunchy or a super clod?

Is that a can of worms I just opened? :(

I'd say a Clod, but a lot depends where you can run it - flat wide open spaces would suit an LB better but for mild off-road up, get a Clod.

I wholeheartedly agree on the case being that it is because its a van shell for popularities sake, the van shell goes hand in hand with those wheels.

There's always going to be one personal preference of body over another that's on the same chassis.

I prefer the Lunchbox, but I also like the Pumpkin so I have both.

Same also goes for the monster ORV chassis, when you have king hit's like the Monster Beetle and the Blackfoot, it's understandable why the Mud Blaster didn't sell as well (I dont think the Mud Blaster is ugly either).

You cant compare a Super Clod to a lunchie, two completely different kettle's of fish. I myself would pick the lunchie over a Super Crud for fun factor.

But I would strongly recommend buying both ;)

When my mate and I run his lunchbox and my clod the unfortunate truth is the lunchbox is nothing but clod fodder. Course I have to catch him first.

This was the point I was making berman. What I don't understand with the Mud Blaster is that if it was just the shell was ugly, then would the normal Subaru Brat sell as well as it does?

I bought the Lunchbox purely for the body set to fit it to a M-Chassis. If I'd not wanted to do an on-road vanning project, the Lunchbox would have stayed on the shelf.

What was left of the kit was utilised under a 'toy' truck body. Now that I have built it, modified the heck out of it and Mamba'd it, it's one of my favourite runners. With how often it sits rubber side up I don't think I'd ever put the van body (or the pumpkin body) on it. Even the poor toy truck body is starting to become more glue than plastic... might be time for a lexan Kamtec V12 body.

I thought it was a GMC

Isn't GMC just another division of GM, just like Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac and Cadillac.

GMC and Chevrolet trucks are mostly identical, their differences in trim (and price) have varied throughout the years.

Neither do I, I guess people prefer the look of the brat with the scale wheels

I believe GMC own all those companies, much like Ford and Mazda, and did what Ford and Mazda did during the 80's and 90's with rebadging and trim differences. I cant keep up anymore with what car manufacturer owns what nowadays...

Haha you Mamba'd a M04?

The remainder of the Lunchbox kit (the chassis) is fitted with a toy truck body and runs a 5700Kv Mamba on 7.4v 25C Li-Po (IP4000).

The Lunchbox body is fitted to a shortened and narrowed M04 chassis running a 4600Kv Mamba on 3s2p 9.9v A123 saddle packs. (Has a kamtec V12 Mk1 Escort ABS body while I'm doing the body paint and making an interior for the van).

It's hard to choose which one is hardest to control. Both are crazy fast! :D Just the way I like it. :P
