Just a quick one, while I was stripping down my super champ I noticed that the pins which the front arms attach to are much thicker than the ones on my budget rr build. Did the superchamp have these as an upgrade or are these some kind of hope up? They seem to have a black coated finish with a thick notch for the grub screw to screw on. Much nicer than the ones in my rr.

Nice find, those are the original vintage CRP hardened shaft upgrades a real must have if you plan to run an SRB - SC = SRB lets no go there .

I'm certain the ones I bought back in the day (circa 1985) were by CRP. And they were definitely black and Dazaa describes his.

Don't have mine anymore unfrotunately. They worked great - I used to hit the kurb a lot and bend the stock ones. Problem went away with these, but my driving eventually got a bit better :)

Holy Cow! Is that a 4WD SRB?!!!!

Never seen that before!

Cheers,

Skottoman

4WD SRB? there is not much SRB left in that picture... oh yeah, the wheels :)

Well actually the tyres :D wheels were CRP metal covers on some aftermarket solid black rims.

Sadly I had to part with this car a few years ago, its now with another member who I think is named in the showroom listing. It took years to get together and Shodog was the guru on this one.

I've got most of my cars packed away right now so could'nt remember if SC ones are same thickness as standard ones which I now assume they are. So I agree they must be CRP, just never saw the CRPs in black before, I live & learn. Cool find!

Hi,

if i remember correctly the SC has hardened front pins as stock supply and they are black (like the stock hardened Universal joints) and like you describe them, so i think that you just have the original ones, that are becoming very rare to find, take care of them.

Bye

Dang, I was quite happy untill I read that :D Ahh well, I suppose they do there job, so much so that rather than bending the pin, the whole metal tube was bent hence why I needed to force them out and scratched the black finish. They aren't any longer than the standard one. I am looking forward to sorting this car out, already got a pair of nylon rear arms and crp front tower extenders lying around, should be a pretty nice car if I ever finish it.

The black pins came with the superchamp. They were marginally better than the stock SRB ones. The best ones were sold by CRP and RCH. They are silver in color and are a bit longer than stock ones because the plastic RCH arms need the extra length. I have both pins new in the bag and I cannot tell them apart. I suspect they were made by the same company.

Scorchio I was sad when you sold that bug long ago. Those parts are just unobtainium and even the smallest of kit parts go for fat money http://completed.shop.ebay.com/i.html?LH_C...m283&_rdc=1

I understand your sadness, I remember felling REAL pain boxing it up (and thinkings Jims gonna hate me for this). I made sure it was sold here though, and went to someone already chasing the MIP stuff who really appreciated what they were getting. My priorities had to change when my son was born, and boy was he expensive! (still is!) When he's all grown up and got a job he'll get emailed a pic of it before every fathers day, and a little note saying 'one of these would be nice' :)

Ahhh I was robbed then :) Oh well you live and learn. I bought my 2nd Hand CRP hardened drive shafts off this very site in good faith and they are indeed the black anodised ones... Should have done my research better. Hummphh

Can't fault you on this, you made the right choice. I'm now in the process of selling off the bulk of my collection to pay back the $32K I used to divorce my exwife. Bottom line is that their just toys.
