I imagine it would be ok for areas where you would get a bit of overspray but i wouldn't use it for masking particular areas. Tamiya do some flexible masking tape that might be better depending on what your trying to mask out. I just bought some 6mm tape off ebay for about £3.00

I use Parma Fasmask for painting my bodies. In my opinion it's the best you can get in the uK. Bob Diveleys is usually recommended by the specialists but you have to order it from the uS. Fasmask is very similar, if not the same stuff.

I use it two ways

1. If your design has a border to the shapes use line tape to create the edge, then fill in the rest with Fasmask. The fasmask pulls away cleanly afterwards without disturbing your taped border.

2. Paint fasmask over the whole of the inside of the body and cut your design out in situ. I use a sharp scalpel blade to cut the mask, a new blade doesn't need any pressure so cuts the film without scratching the body. Needs practice though as if you score the body later when running it will split along the score.

Having tried a few liquid masks without success, I bit the bullet and ordered a large tub of Bob Diveleys from Tower and have to say it was worth it. Much better than anything else I have tried, although I haven't tried the Fasmask.

I did the Alitalia paintjob on my Lancia Stratos using liquid mask and its a real godsend. I think the technique with any liquid mask is to put it on THICK, using several coats if necessary.

Is it just me or is part of the fun of liquid mask peeling it off afterwards [:I] ?

Yeah, its like when we were at school and used to use the copydex (fish paste) glue with the big brush. I used to paint my hands with the stuff just so i could peel it off. Im not MAD after all.
