I recently bought a Madcap runner off ebay. When i ran it for first time the motor was spining fast but the car barely moved, not being an expert i thought a diff problem?

As i was going to install a few hop-up parts anyway i though i'd treat it to a new diff (part 53043) i put this together last night and still have the same problem. If i tighen the 3 srews on the housing any thighter than they already are i cant turn the joints by hand, is this right? As per the instructions i havent used the BE7 washers, do i need these?

Thanks

Pinion screw is tight, didnt think about the tyres and i dont think the're glued on. Could it be somthing as silly as that?

What type of grease did you use when you assembled the diff?? If you used normal Tamiya grease then its still gonna spin, You have to use Tamiya Diff grease so the diff works properly. Other than that I would have said what the other members have said above glue the tyres & check the grub screw is tight on the pinion.

It's not the tyres on the pinion. The wheels spin fine when off the groud but when i put the car down it hardly moves.

Had exactly the same problem om my Madcap - apparently a common problem. The 3 screws on mine were also loose when I stripped it which didn't help. Definatly use Tamiya limited slip diff grease only when assembling and use the spacer washers as well.

Mine was fine after this and I run a Tamiya TZ through it :-)
