Hi everyone. Can anyone tell me if the techniplus ap-227 is a 29 or 27mhz transmitter? Got one yesterday with a supershot I bought at the track off a guy. It's got a 29mhz crystal in it but not sure if it's just got the wrong one in it. I tried looking in the forum for more info but didn't find what I was looking for. Someone had a scanned manual but it seemed to contradict itself. Any help would be appreciated.

The AP-227 should be 27MHz. The 29MHz were called AP-229.

Well at least the Acoms Techniplus AP-229 Mk III that I got with my original Fox in 1986 was 29MHz.

Cheers,

Brad

Hey Brad. I should have known you or maybe Matt could tell me something. (I should get your email or phone number one day for when I need to know something)I thought the the model having 227 in it might mean something. I did see someone say on the net they thought it stood for 2 channel, 27 mhz. They car works as is but I have had this happen before where I was running a car with the wrong crystal in the transmitter. Was using 27mhz transmitter with 29mhz crystals or vise versa. It did work, some days fine others not so good. In the end I got sick of it on the bad days & investigated further to find my problem.

I am pretty sure that the receivers are coded in a similar manner (I am not going to check as they are all stored).

You could then check to see if the receiver matches the transmitter (I now it is a pain in the Supershot) and if it does use 27MHz crystals.

If it was Mario's Supershot that was very tidy and even had a Technigold I think.

I just pulled the Supershot apart to find it had an Arc-229 receiver in it with the AP-227 transmitter & matching 29 mhz crystals. Does this sound right?

The ARC-229 receiver should be matched up with an AP-229 (I checked and that is the receiver that I got with the radio gear for my Fox in 1986) the Techniplus Mk. III set also came with two AS-7 servos.

You should be able to use that receiver with another 29MHz transmitter without problems though.

Edit to add:

The original Hotshot that I have had the ARC-229 receiver and AS-5S servos

My supershot also has the AS-7 servos in it. It would seem that it has unmatched receiver/transmitter. Unusual but easy mistake & something I have done myself before. Having the 27 in the model name is what made me look into it. Maybe that is why it has been sold on at some stage. I did give it a quick run & it seemed to go ok although I didn't drive it more than 20 metres away. It can all be used on something, was just wanting to confirm the operating frequencies of the different models. Thanks for your replies & efforts Brad.
